Yo Nostr. I've been posting less these past few weeks, so to make up for it, Allow me to get a little more vulnerable. It's my second Bitcoin cycle. Is it normal that the second bear market hits harder than the first one? Beyond Bitcoin though. Things seem generally bleaker than in 2020. Is that just a consequence of growing up? Am I just tripping or is anyone else feeling less optimistic about the immediate future?
Keeping up with the trend that people don't get excited by protocols. But they do get excited when an application works and solves a real life problem for them Only nerds like protocols. View quoted note →
What Brian is really saying is: "We beep boop'ed our website so that it shows that Kevin has the amount of Bitcoin he thinks he's supposed to have. In doing so, we hope he trusts us enough to believe that his bitcoin is actually there and that he never has to withdraw.... Otherwise we'll have an FTX-style bank run on our hands". Don't be like Kevin. Or Brian. Use @BULL BITCOIN View quoted note →
I mainly use Nostr on mobile and lemme tell you Amber + amethyst are hands down the best wombo combo. There is no mobile Nostr client that matches Amethyst's performance and UX combined. It strikes the perfect balance. All other mobile Nostr clients are either Insanely clean but unusably slow Insanely fast with Unintuitive UX Wonderful job done by @Vitor Pamplona
I'm no UX expert but here are my thoughts regarding Bitcoin & Nostr. The path to get started, from 0 to 1 is relatively simple. From no coiner to sending / spending Bitcoin. Easy. Not your keys not your Bitcoin is easy. Too much focus is spent on the idiots that don't know how to write down words on steel / paper . Same thing for Nostr. Creating an Npub/Marc pair. Easy. Nothing hard about it and the UX for most apps is as smooth as can be for this firs experience is great. The path from 1 to 100 (or 99 since there's always more to learn)is incredibly difficult And terribly documented. The UX needs to get better for this part of the journey I've been a bitcoiner for a while. But I still dunno shit about UTXO management. And no service is documenting it properly, or making the UX intuitive enough for me to pick it up. IMO of course Or starting lightning channels on my own. This one might seem obvious for some, but there are huge friction points. Sure we can use a custodial lightning wallet and that's straightforward but thats the 0 to 1 path for lightning. Using Phoenix to manage your lightning channels, rebalance everything , or using Alby for NWC (wtf is this... I'm still lost to this day) or spinning up an electrum server for your sparrow wallet... Why am I doing this and wtf is it in the first place. Why do I need an electrum server if I'm running a node. These might be newbie questions, but I'd argue these are questions are probably asking after step 1. The more you learn the more there is to learn but this is where the rabbit holes begin and the UX supporting the journey deserves to be improved further.
