A decent sized obstacle to Bitcoin adoption is that so many people have no concept of money they’re saving for more than a week or two, let alone years or decades
I guess the word “tariff” hasn’t been bandied about as much as right now for about 100 years. I hope it’s causing at least some of us to try to learn how the global economy works and has (not) worked vis-a-vis Americans during that time. I’m just amazed at the levels of subconscious “that’s just the way it is” I encounter out there and in myself, and I think Bitcoin has made me more aware of it
Watched Dog Day Afternoon
What a tangible movie
Kind of funny
Never seen anything like it
It’s damn near a stage play

Quite the rough stretch we’re in

The covid pandemic doesn’t seem worthy of being at the bottom of this bounce toward higher lows. All the American history that came prior to that seems more significant to me.
It likely would have bounced regardless though; the response to the pandemic was just the match that lit the bonfire

@walker the April Fool’s joke is that the $58k meme has become $85k
GM. Happy birthday to my uncle Mikey. Conceived on the 4th of July, born on April Fool’s Day, and passed away last week. We miss you.

Once Hollywood gets their hands on it, it’s dead, at least right now. Silver screens have at various points been able to bring American culture to life; at the moment they fossilize it, pin it to the wall like a trophy or something. Not too optimistic about the upcoming biopic about the making of Springsteen’s Nebraska album.
Started out #nostronly as a New Year’s resolution, but it’s pretty clear after three months it’s gonna be all I got indefinitely
I’m sure there are plenty of well thought out criticisms of Alcoholics Anonymous, but the decentralized, somewhat anonymous structure shouldn’t be one. I went to see a coworker and friend speak at a meeting last night, and besides her inspiring testimony, I was most struck by how this idea of alcoholics helping alcoholics has persisted in a voluntary, loosely affiliated form for so long.

Actually knowing something for oneself is really rare. Most of the time we’re just trading opinions back and forth.

Doing things you don’t want to do makes you better at doing things you don’t want to do

Rest in peace, Uncle Mikey

Some kind of future where lots of people jump into fiat when they absolutely need to but remain in Bitcoin for anything that’s not immediate
Those that stay in fiat permanently get obliterated and don’t really know why
I think I learned to play guitar because I left mine laying around the house out of its case and would just pick it up
I sometimes doubt I would have taught myself to play if smartphones were around back then, but I also wonder if I would have carved out even more of a world for myself and learned even more than I did. I’ll never know.
