Nice to look at Solana up whatever 15% in a day, think “huh, I wonder what that’s about,” then just go on ignoring shitcoins again

Also, the Fed buying Treasuries directly is the macroeconomic equivalent of autofellatio. Very grotesque

A couple highlights for me from the Sam Callahan (couldn’t find his npub for some reason) and @Lyn Alden piece “Full Steam Ahead” “…these deficits are no longer a matter of choice but a byproduct of systemic obligations” I’m always looking for easy ways to encapsulate the spending issues the US faces so I can talk with people like my mom about it; this is great for that “Higher rates strain government finances and worsen deficits, while lower rates invite inflationary pressures and fiscal complacency” just a succinct description of the rock and the hard place American finances are in Just glad I found Bitcoin, man

Being situated at a slight remove from the news gives you as useful of a perspective as you would have if you were 100% jacked into the news, mainlining info all day long. It lets you see the gestalts. And being at a slight remove is more attainable and healthier for most people.

GM. Listening while making breakfast and drinking coffee. What a life. Dig the points made about Bitcoin and Nostr as protocols being more aligned with nature and thermodynamics than the artificial silos that dominate the current internet. The more you square up with the inherent mechanisms and flow of physics, the more you’re going to flourish. That’s true for individuals, for populations, for health and for information. I finished Pat Buchanan’s Churchill, Hitler and the Unnecessary War last night and I think one of my main takeaways is that Churchill was kind of a high time preference dude. He let Stalin creep deep into Europe and even mapped out the future Iron Curtain with him, all to defeat Hitler at any cost. He couldn’t see past the present tense, while Stalin was looking past him to what Europe would look like after WWII. #bookstr

Think if I figured it out today. I was listening to Inna Gadda Da Vida, realized that whoever sings for Iron Butterfly did the post grunge heyaheeyeah thing, and it dawned on me that that style goes straight back to Elvis. View quoted note →

Reading Pat Buchanan’s book Churchill, Hitler and the Unnecessary War and the main takeaway so far has been that the dawn of the nation state absolutely wreaked havoc on entire peoples’ conceptions of their own identity Just saying it’s been a bad influence for a long time View quoted note →
