Late night reading when I should be sleeping

The courage it takes to create is the same courage it takes to live with an open heart
Rollo May on creativity and courage:
'A choice confronts us. Shall we, as we feel our foundations shaking,
withdraw in anxiety and panic? Frightened by the loss of our familiar
mooring places, shall we become paralyzed and cover our inaction with apathy? If we do those things, we will have surrendered our chance to participate in the forming of the future. We will have forfeited the distinctive characteristic of human beings - namely, to influence our evolution through our own awareness...
'Or shall we seize the courage necessary to preserve our sensitivity,
awareness, and responsibility in the face of radical change?...
'We are called upon to do something new, to confront a no manโs land, to
push into a forest where there are no well-worn paths and from which no one has returned to guide us... To live into the future means to leap into the unknown, and this requires a degree of courage...
'This courage will not be the opposite of despair. We shall often be faced with despair, as indeed every sensitive person has been... courage is not the absence of despair; it is, rather, the capacity to move ahead in spite of despair.'

'This courage will not be the opposite of despair. We shall often be faced with despair, as indeed every sensitive person has been... courage is not the absence of despair; it is, rather, the capacity to move ahead in spite of despair.'

Seen on LinkedIn:
'The Tax Foundation now ranks the UK 32nd out of 38 OECD Countries for tax competitiveness - a pitiful position for what was once marketed as "Global Britain."
'We're behind Hungary, Germany, even New Zealand. That's right Kiwis now have a more pro-growth tax regime than the supposed financial capital of Europe.
'Reeves' tax raids on capital gains, property, and employer NIC's have done their job: throttled growth, scared off investors, and cemented Britain's place in the bottom 20% of developed economies.'
- Gary Dixon
French Justice Minister says the theft from Le Louvre tarnishes the country's image. I'd say the Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony did a far superior job of that. Idiots ๐
Agree? Disagree? #AskNostr
French people I know told me they found the ceremony very effective in demoralising the population. There's a lot of that going around here in the UK too ๐ฅบ

@profk was in the house. We spoke about Nostr (of course),
๐ฟhow it lets us build portable communities,
๐ฟthat there's too much bitcoin content (change your follows ๐),
๐ฟthe music biz,
๐ฟhow I never want to see whatever a Bitcoin dance would look like ๐,
and
๐ฟhow he's responsible for my poetry collection coming out soon (!) and how scary it is to be so vulnerable

The Battle of Ideas Festival is on this weekend. Hurtling headfirst into talks on Free Speech etc.
Will be interesting to see what the slightly more awake normies are saying.

Everything about this video is beautifully perfect. Literally everything: the baby, the father, the paintings, the piano, the music - Clare de Lune, Debussy.
This is the piece I started learning in the dark early mornings of February this year, until a house refurb blocked access to my piano last month. I can't wait to get back to it, but that won't be till next year.
I never feel more at peace than when I'm practising piano and writing poetry.
Thank god a refurb can't stop me writing ๐๐ฅน๐

GM Nostr, a poem poured out of me this morning after seeing the image below. Does it make you remember a time you might have felt this way? I don't know what the title of this poem could be. Struggling with it. #asknostr
Sometimes masks are too difficult to take off, hearts are too hard to open
Sometimes dreams formed in the late late hours die, killed by sharp words
Sometimes wounds heal and dreams revive with time and pure, unrushed gentleness
Sometimes she thinks she could wait forever for the love that sang to her, but she cries, knowing there were no promises made, just the ones she makes to herself
