Here’s a movie you’ve probably never heard of, but one that genuinely deserves attention. It was made 45 years ago with no CGI and no modern special effects. To pull off the large-scale battle scenes, it employed over 50,000 real people as stage actors to make them believable.
Compared to movies like LOTR, where most battles were shot with maybe 300 people and then copy-pasted into tens of thousands, then backed by heavy sound editing to manufacture epic battle cries - everything here is raw. No digital multiplication. No audio trickery. Just mass, noise, confusion, and uncontrolled movement.
What you see on screen is pure chaos and realism. And that’s exactly why Asparuh (Аспарух) still hits hard.
