The path may be opening to be in Nashville, TN for a few days or a few weeks. I am just kinda wondering if it's worth taking the adventure. Will I have the chance to meet some Nostr and Bitcoin folks and make friends there? Who do you know who lives there?

That's wild! Just last night I was thinking of my broken drum, that never got fixed. And now this #throwback appears just moments ago.

Tomorrow is National Night Out: a once-a-year event where communities across the U.S. gather on their blocks to connect, celebrate, and look out for each other.
I just heard about one from Jack, the first person I ever onboarded to #BitChat. He’s starting his first year at UC Berkeley, and his neighborhood’s hosting a block party.
It got me thinking… what if this day became National BitChat Day, too?
It’s a day built exactly for neighbor-to-neighbor connection.
Front yards, grills, block parties. The ideal moment to talk local comms, off-grid tools, and digital sovereignty - casually, authentically, neighbor-to-neighbor.
If you’re attending a neighborhood gathering tomorrow, consider:
💬 Getting your neighbors on BitChat
📡 Helping folks understand that mesh + Bluetooth chat = resilience
🛠️ Offering a simple download (QR code or APK)
🕊️ Reframing it as “a tool for when you really need to reach each other and you'll wish you had when the grid goes down”
Or better yet - host a mini gathering yourself.
Doesn’t have to be fancy. A few neighbors and a conversation can go a long way.
This is where tech adoption actually happens:
Not through ads, but through real life, trust, and shared context.
BitChat is more than a chat app. It’s a trust tool. A backchannel. A bridge.
And this might be the perfect night to build those bridges.

Bonus tip: Not sure how to break the ice at the block party?
Show someone how to slap with a trout on BitChat.
If they don’t laugh, challenge them to a fish-slapping dance-off 👉🏻

I am watching a show with a bitchy french boss and it seems to be rubbing off on me. I am definitely being way more verbally abusive with my chatgpt tonight though. 🙊

🕶️ Crypto Rebels, 1993: The Warning Was Issued
In 1993, WIRED ran a cover story that most ignored.
Those who didn’t?
They built the tools we’re using right now.
They were called Cypherpunks—and they weren’t theorizing.
They were coding. Encrypting. Anonymizing.
Declaring war on surveillance before it became mainstream.
---
💣 Core Principle:
> “Privacy is necessary for an open society.” — Eric Hughes, A Cypherpunk’s Manifesto
They didn’t ask for permission.
They built the foundation.
They knew the internet would either free us or enslave us.
And they bet everything on cryptography.
---
👤 Who They Were
• Tim May – Author of The Crypto Anarchist Manifesto, warned of future surveillance states.
• Eric Hughes – Wrote A Cypherpunk’s Manifesto, helped launch the Cypherpunk mailing list.
• John Gilmore – EFF co-founder, championed anonymous remailers and free speech online.
• Phil Zimmermann – Created PGP (Pretty Good Privacy), a game-changing encryption tool that got him investigated by the U.S. government.
---
🔐 What They Did
• Released PGP before “E2EE” had a name
• Built anonymous remailers—proto Tor
• Mapped the logic that would birth Bitcoin
• Proved: Code is speech. Privacy is non-negotiable.
---
🧠 What They Understood in 1993
• Surveillance would go default
• Governments would demand backdoors
• Big Tech would become proxy governments
• Only open protocols could keep the net human
---
🧬 What Emerged From That Fire
• Bitcoin – Permissionless value protocol
• Nostr – A flexible, censorship-resistant substrate for building decentralized anything
• WhiteNoise – Private messaging built on Nostr, no emails or phone numbers
• Bitchat – Mesh-style, serverless messaging
• Signal – Battle-tested private messenger
• Tor – Anonymous access to the open web
---
👁️🗨️ TL;DR
We’re not here by accident.
Cypherpunks wrote the playbook.
If you're building with Bitcoin, Nostr, or any open system—
You're carrying the torch.
Don’t drop it.

This could easily have been my last #ecstaticdance... Though was probably not... but it's been forever. Here just dancing next to my massage chair station ready to give TLC to some sweet souls. Some are still hitting me up checking if I may be back in town yet. It's been two years. And honestly I am not sure if I am coming back... like in that way anyways. #throwback #westcoastbass
Randomly found this lil ig story... I'd forgotten about this... I had a dream back home in California, shortly before triggering a 6 week trip in Feb 2023 (that turned out unexpectedly10 months because I totally unplanned decided to care for my immobile grandmother with dimentia)... In the dream I was right in this area in Sofia, Bulgaria where I am waking. I was in a car passing by the National Palace of Culture and and looking out with fascination of all these dragons that had landed on its walls with their open wings and I fell so deeply in love. It's always trippy reflecting on some of he prophetic nature of many of my dreams.
