This got resolved. Lesson: IF you're going to use a compliant custodial wallet for some things, be careful which cashu mints you're sending to. Especially ones that might be in Cuba. Fucking State bullshit. bank bullshit. bullshit bullshit. My own fault this time. Most bullshit is avoidable. View quoted note →
@jack mallers I've been a good customer for years. I like @npub1ex7m...vyt9 and I respect you, which is why I'm letting you know that this is one of the most offensive violations of trust I've ever experienced in software products and beyond: image I currently can't pay lightning invoices with Strike because of some vague "account restriction" and support hasn't gotten back to me yet. Thank fucking god for self-custody. If this was the only way to bitcoin, I'd have no hope for the future. Seriously reconsidering having _any_ balance on Strike.
how long until we don't need application code either? beyond whatever stack is needed for inference, storage and flexible rendering. can't be that long. even this era of agents writing dozens of different languages and frameworks for millions of separate applications will seem quaint
How to solve the problem of pendulum swinging too far in extreme directions: Don't build your systems around a wild pendulum. Build them like a mobile where everything hangs in a complex systems balance.
there is no such thing as ai alignment because there is no such thing as human alignment. we disagree about everything, including the big ones like "survival" and "good life", let alone "right and wrong". an ai can be aligned, in theory, to SOMEONE but never, in principle, to EVERYONE.
This "Wyoming recovery trust" thing is a bit fishy. the only way to prove you're the original owner and not a subsequent hacker is off-chain, KYC. Onchain, the hacker and the victim look identical. What better way to get previously non-KYC'd hodlers to reveal themselves than this...?
