if there's one thing I disagree with re Nostr, it's the idea that DMs belong here. Nothing about Nostr's architecture makes sense for DMs. Nostr is public af. DMs require *minimizing* metadata not maximizing it by sending private conversation data, encrypted or otherwise, through relays. The only app that got this right so far is Keychat, and they've explained the how and why brilliantly many times. Read up: @Keychat
