If you pay attention closely, you'll notice a trope that has been employed endlessly – that is, the phrase "wipe them off map" being used in the various contexts of geopolitical narratives (Israel, Ukraine, insert your conflict here).
I have noticed this, because it stems from a mistranslated line from way back in the Bush era.
Iran's president at the time (Ahmadinejad) had said "the occupation regime over Jerusalem should vanish from the page of time."
[As an aside, I entirely agree, as all government regimes should be abolished.]
The phraseology used was translated and widely reported as "wipe Israel off the map", which has now cemented itself in the public consciousness.
It's an intriguing analysis of the way the State is conflated with the "country" (i.e., the ruling class and it's subjects), how statist narratives solidify themselves in the human mind, and the insidiousness with which they spin things to advance their interests.
