My grandmother has diabetes through her pancreatic operation. She gets a longterm insulin injection every evening before bed. It was a shit of a work to get her a blood sugar measurement thing that lasts 2 weeks in her arm. (unbelievable) and it turns out that her blood sugar always starts to spike in the afternoon and goes down very slowly throughout the night. Sometimes she wakes up with very low blood sugar and she gets dizzy. (because her meals probably are not fitting with the insulin intake) In order to get the long term blood sugar measurement, she had to get another injection before every dinner. But according to her afternoon spikes it feels like it doesn't make any sense. Her open wounded legs were about to heal but now they are open again. Next week I finally get to talk to her doctor about it. It feels like nobody really cares about her blood sugar. Otherwise they would be interested in a longterm statistic of how the insulin works or not and not refuse to ask the health insurance for coverage. Also, its not so easy to find out what is a truly proper diet. Old people are hard to change.
