BITCOIN POWER LAW PAPER PUBLISHED IN PEER-REVIEWED JOURNAL A Mechanistic Derivation of the Bitcoin Price Power Law: Network Adoption Dynamics and Generalised Metcalfe Scaling has officially been published in Elsevier’s Nonlinear Science after peer review. The paper by Giovanni’s BTC_POWER_LAW and moneyordebt ∞/21M argues Bitcoin’s long-term price power law can be derived from network adoption dynamics and generalized Metcalfe scaling, providing a theoretical foundation for one of Bitcoin’s most debated valuation models. image

Very odd price action on Bitcoin this evening. It was trading in a roughly $50 range for nearly an hour before scam-wicking up and then stair-stepping down. image

🇪🇺 MICA DEADLINE COULD FORCE HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF EUROPEAN CRYPTO USERS OFF THEIR EXCHANGES While much of the attention has focused on Binance, the July 1 MiCA deadline is a much bigger story. Only around 200 crypto firms have secured a MiCA licence out of more than 3,000 that were previously operating across Europe. That leaves major exchanges including Binance, Bitget and KuCoin still in licensing limbo in parts of the EU, meaning many European users could soon lose access to their preferred platform as regulators tighten enforcement. The users who migrate to licensed exchanges may also encounter a far more bank-like experience, with stricter compliance requirements, monitoring and account restrictions. Danny Sanders, Chief Commercial Officer at @Trezor, says the transition could accelerate the move toward self-custody: “If your exchange acts like a bank and can freeze your assets like a bank, it is a bank… An account on an exchange was never the same as holding the coins. Self-custody is the only version of this that was ever actually yours.” The July 1 deadline marks one of the biggest regulatory changes in European crypto history, and its effects are likely to unfold throughout the rest of the year as more exchanges either secure licences or exit the market. image

CATHOLIC GROUPS VOICE OPPOSITION TO BITCOIN DEVELOPER PROTECTIONS IN CLARITY ACT A coalition of Catholic organizations and anti-human trafficking advocates is urging Senate leadership to oppose the Blockchain Regulatory Certainty Act (BRCA). They argue the bill could weaken safeguards against illicit finance and create loopholes for traffickers and transnational criminal organizations. The letter directly challenges claims from groups like Coin Center, which argue BRCA is essential to protect non-custodial developers, open-source software, and blockchain infrastructure providers from being treated as money transmitters. The fight over BRCA is shaping up to be one of the most contentious debates in the broader CLARITY Act discussion. image

TRUMP SIGNS TWO QUANTUM EXECUTIVE ORDERS The White House has launched a dual-track quantum strategy: build a powerful quantum computer and prepare US systems to survive one. • The Department of Energy has been directed to develop a Scientifically Relevant Quantum Computer (SRQC) within 5 years. • Federal agencies must accelerate migration to post-quantum cryptography, with vulnerable classical encryption slated for retirement after 2031. • The administration is elevating quantum computing to a top national science and technology priority. • The orders acknowledge the threat a sufficiently powerful quantum computer poses to today’s encryption standards. • NIST and the Department of Commerce will lead efforts to deploy post-quantum cryptography across federal systems and critical infrastructure. It’s clear the US government is now treating both quantum offense and quantum defense as urgent priorities on the same five-year timeline. image
