Core memory from my first year in college. 😂 During our Construction Technology subject, our Architect professor was discussing traditional Filipino houses, especially the bahay kubo. He explained that, back then, the paliguan or comfort room was separate from the main house. Then, out of nowhere, he looked straight at me and asked, "What is a batalan made of?" Si ate niyo... nag-loading. 😭😂 I answered, "Sorry, Sir. I don't know yet what a batalan is." He replied, "Kawawa ka naman. Hindi mo alam ang batalan?" As someone who was born and raised in Manila, I had never seen or even heard of a batalan. I honestly can't even remember if it was ever discussed in Araling Panlipunan back in elementary or high school... o baka naman naituro nga, hindi lang ako nakinig dahil busy akong makipag-marites sa mga kaklase ko. 🤣 Siguro kung may internet na noon, o may ChatGPT at AI na, ilang segundo lang, na-search ko na ang sagot. 😅 Pero kami, lumaki sa panahon ng mga terror professors. Walang Google, walang AI—kaya mapipilitan ka talagang magbasa, mag-research, at matuto. In the end, I shifted to a different course. Pero ang plot twist? My job now is in the same industry as my Architect professor's profession. Hanggang ngayon, hindi ko pa rin nakakalimutan si Sir at mg kaklase Kong mapang asar. Tawag na nila sa akin ay Ms. Batalan. Akala mo nanalo ng pageant. 😫

Dati, kahit noong bata pa ako, kapag ang patatas sinasahog sa afritada o adobo,Hindi ko kinakain, nang tumanda ako, ganun pa rin. Kahit ako pa mismo nagluluto. Last time, my daughter and I watched Manila Carnival Queens at the historic Metropolitan Theater. The musical tells the story of the Manila Carnival Queen pageant during the American colonial period, celebrating the beauty, strength, and resilience of Filipina women while highlighting an important chapter of Philippine history and culture. I'm grateful that the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) continues to support productions like this, allowing the younger generation to experience our history in a meaningful and engaging way. Watching live theater reminds us that our heritage is more than what we read in books—it comes alive through stories, music, and performances. I'm thankful to have shared this experience with my daughter and hope to see more Filipino productions that inspire pride in our culture and identity. 🇵🇭❤️ Mabuhay! 🙂

Grateful to worship God, fellowship with my brothers and sisters in Christ, and see my daughter grow in faith through the youth group. The post by a veteran community member may be gone, but I'd still like to share my thoughts. Not everyone who joins Nostr is here for free money or zaps. Many of us joined to learn about crypto, connect with others, and be part of an open and less toxic community. Zaps aren't guaranteed—they're earned when people find value in your content. Everyone who is knowledgeable about BCH or crypto today started as a beginner. We all had to learn from somewhere. A community grows by welcoming beginners and helping them learn, not by expecting them to know everything before they join. It doesn't cost anything to be patient, kind, and humble.

This was my daughter's first digital artwork in IbisPaint when she was in Grade 1. She's now in Grade 8, and I'm amazed to see how her creativity has continued to grow. She loves designing, drawing, dancing, singing, photography, and especially capturing sunsets. For her 13th birthday, her only wish is a digital camera. I'm not familiar with cameras since I've only used my humble Android phone, but I'm learning and praying that I'll be able to save enough to make her wish come true. I'm sharing this because I'm a proud mom who believes that talents should be nurtured with love, encouragement, and good values that begin at home. I'll always support her dreams and creativity. ❤️
