An 18 y/o struck up a convo with me about Bitcoin after seeing the stickers on my water bottle. Specifically, asking me if I care that bitcoin is bad for the environment. We had a nice 15-20 min convo about bitcoin, its energy use, and why it's important and necessary. He didn't agree, and was more so pushing his belief that humanity should try to use less energy. I think I cooked his brain a bit, introducing concepts and topics he'd never heard of nor thought about before. Which is entirely fair. He was humble though and acknowledged his lack of understanding. I applauded his humility and his curiousity. It was a fun discussion, at least for me. Though, the best part was when at the end I told him he should "study bitcoin" so he can form his own informed opinions on the subject. He then kinda laughed and told me he had "a lot of better things to study than bitcoin" at which point I told him to "remember this conversation in 15 years". The look on his face was priceless. The realization that I'm looking into the future almost his entire lifetime, and imploring him to do the same. Anyway, small anecdote 🤷🏻‍♂️
