This Watermelon Milk Soap is a collaboration between The Calf at Foot Dairy and the wonderful Emily of @milkmadesoap . Emily is generously making the soap for us completely free of charge, donating her time, skill and work so that every single penny from every bar sold will go to Medical Aid for Palestinians. The watermelon has become a symbol of Palestinian identity, resistance and solidarity. This soap is our way of standing visibly with the Palestinian people—not quietly caring from a safe distance, but being prepared to stick our necks out and say: we see what is happening, and we will not look away, which is the least any of us can do! We know Palestine is not the only place where children and families are suffering. We need help anywhere from one to seven mornings a week, so this could suit one person who wants several regular mornings or a few people covering different days. Full training will be given in food hygiene and safe milk handling, and we will pay for you to complete your Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate. In the past, several of our dairy volunteers have gone on to learn cow handling, milking and general farm work — and some have moved into full-time paid employment with us. You don’t need previous dairy or farm experience, but you do need to be reliable, careful, willing to learn and understand that bottling milk properly really matters.
