I’ve never been a Trumper - but I’ve always been a menace, so this… this is my personal silver lining for Inauguration Day right here. 😈 we can handle the truth.
Things I learned about China from 72 hours on Xiaohongshu:
-They do not pay property tax (and yes they do own their own homes - not state owned) which is partly why they have so few homeless people.
-They pay way less for groceries.
-They have beautiful Christmas markets.
-They enjoy freedom of religion but are not allowed to evangelize or go door to door preaching.
-They are appalled that we have to pay for ambulances here.
-They have their own cowboys and rancher subculture.
-Mandarin sentence structure is almost just like English (subject, verb, object).
-My name is 杰西卡 🙂
Now I’m curious if non-Americans can still see or engage with American content on #Tiktok… anyone know? Like can you still see me @ garden_variety_jess ?
Oh I also learned that the Chinese people have a different word for “mansplaining” that when literally translated means “aroma of dad” and that made me chuckle.
