“Softwar” is a shitty government funded paper with no concrete claims. The one thing that bothers me most is that lowery never talks about why countries would adopt bitcoin in the first place. All he talks about is proof of work, but none of the monetary incentives of bitcoin, which would be a prerequisite for countries to embrace mining in the first place. Countries aren’t going to start mining simply because there’s PoW involved - bitcoin needs to become a globally accepted currency first to incentivize the mining. I don’t think it would take long for lowery to get behind a PoW USD CBDC. Lopp does a good job here going into the weeds and poking holes in the thesis

RFK is a good candidate. IMO one of the best we’ve seen in a long time. But I still can’t figure out why he is (or was) so opposed to nuclear, and shut down a nuclear plant in NY that forced them to use more fossil fuels. Everything i can find about his position seems to relate to the economics of nuclear. Have his stances changed? Was it simply a misunderstanding of nuclear 5 years ago? Or was the technology for nuclear different 5 years ago?

Going to movie theaters is economically inefficient in todays standards. Why have each person spend $20 + money on overpriced food to go watch something that is available at home or will shortly be available at home.
