Fun fact: The orange horns on our 'LaBitcoineta' #Bitcoin Land Cruiser are real Kudu horns and came from a bull that was hunted only days prior. When we painted the horns the skull was still moist after being skinned. Kudu is a popular game animal and is often hunted to make biltong, a local cured meat delicacy. On rare occasions, when Kudu bulls fight, they literally 'lock horns' with the spirals becoming entangled to the point that they cannot seperate. If this happens, both males die of starvatiom. The entire vehicle, including the horns element, was designed and executed by our incredibly talented in-house Special Projects Coordinator, @Thinus Mouton Give him a follow! image

Thanks to everyone who zapped Avethandwa on Friday, he was super stoked!!! All the #Bitcoin (23k sats) was paid to his wallet and your zaps amped him so much that he surfed his way into 2nd place in the u10 final! image

Avethandwa is only 9. But he surfs on his own. Paddles to the backline by himself and catches his own waves. He's independent in the water. And he's competing in his first surf comp this weekend!!! Plus he's got a #Bitcoin wallet. What were you doing when you were 10? All zaps from this post will go straight to Avethandwa, as a reward for his proof-of-work. And to motivate him to keep working hard, and surf harder. image

Imagine being so delusional that you refuse cash payments, in a country where 75% of PoS payments by volume is cash based. Never mind the bizarre rationalization of 'responsibility' and 'safety'... let's ignore that for a second. One can sort of understand this in a first-world country where few people use cash anyway. This trend leads to dark places, but it's understandable that people just follow it. But here? In this country. You really gotto be living in a rubber bubble to put up a sign like this. image

A community of wealthy residents sailing across the globe full-time on a luxury liner? No, it's not the plot line for a new Netflix movie. It really exists. 'The World', a private residential luxury cruise liner, the only one of its kind, stopped in Mossel Bay recently. image

Travel tip: buying souvenirs is a waste. Instead, just collect fiat notes from the countries you visit and keep them until you have enough to make something cool. Preferably #Bitcoin inspired. I made this in 2019 and have almost collected enough notes to make another one. image

I used to listen to this stuff religiously when I was a teenager. Never really knew why. Not cognitively anyway. All I knew was, I was pissed off at something. 20 years later, I'm re-discovering it. But with a very different attitude. Back then, it made we wanna obliterate myself with drugs and alcohol. Turns out it's dangerous to go down that path without a solution in mind. However, with a possible solution, the same energy can be channeled to great effect. Because this same stuff is the ultimate energizer to get out there and do something about all this shit. I even listen to this with my kids, driving to school every morning. And they love it! (Though I do filter the songs with seriously explicit language) image

Imagine you believed everything you saw on the evening news or read in the local newspaper. (Imagine still buying newspapers!) Imagine you took politicians and bureaucrats at face value and questioned nothing they said, attributing their piss poor performance to bad luck. I can't remember what that's like. It's been too long. But I can't imagine that the number of people who live that way is growing. Instead, I'd imagine it's shrinking. Rapidly.

The world is changing and this is the most exciting time to be alive. We face serious problems in the world today. But the bigger the problem, the greater the opportunity to be a part of the solution. And I can't think of anything more exciting than that.

Among the many things I've learned thanks to Bitcoin is that, whatever the reasons may be, humans are incapable of learning things without first making costly mistakes. I was on an international flight yesterday wearing my usual attire. #Bitcoin cap and t-shirt. Two random individuals (two separate occasions) approached and asked exactly the same thing: "I see you're into #Bitcoin, do you trade?" It's the first time this has happened in over two years. Not surprising, considering the week we've had. But significant because, here we go. Again. 2013, 2017, 2021 and now 2024. Lots of people will lose lots of money because they're asking the wrong questions. And likely only a small minority of them will learn from those mistakes. We're at the very beginning of wherever this is going.

Do the people buying up the ETFs realise that they're indirectly being philanthropic? They're contributing to the creation of wealth in a South African township where some people have been stacking sats throughout the entire bear market.

I firmly believe that fundamental to every human psyche is the need to do something for others. Whatever it may be. However large or small. Without any expectation of return. Perhaps it's buried under mountains of shit. But it's there. And until it's fulfilled, no human will ever find true peace and happiness.
