Am I the only idiot who can't use Nostr on a desktop? On mobile Amethyst works well, but on a desktop, I just can't seem to figure it out.

I think I realised why I'm intuitively drawn to Nostr. Because I want to end war, or at least minimize it as far as possible. And we can't do that in a world that's increasingly being censored. Yes, of course, there are dictators, sympathisers and vehement supporters that have succumbed to the propaganda. And this is true for all sides. But, if calling them those names means you've found a way to avoid a deeper understanding of their reasoning, then you don't really want to end war. Because you cannot end conflict if you don't first understand its deepest motivations. You should not agree with the propagandists, warmongers, dictators, or anyone else who advocates for violence as a solution. But you definitely should listen to them. Because how else will you understand them? And, in a world where censorship is only increasing, without uncensorable communications protocol how will you continue listening?

At the upcoming @Adopting Bitcoin Cape Town, we will consider a proposal and (potentially) help fund the establishment of a new #Bitcoin Circular Economy project in South Africa. Something much like Bitcoin Beach and our own project, Bitcoin Ekasi. However, it'll be different in that #Bitcoin AND #Nostr will serve as its foundational cornerstones. I'm beginning to think that Elon Musk is a sponsored, controlled and fake hero. The rebels need a hero, someone who they think stands up for them, against the powerful. But the powers that be cannot (and will not) allow a real hero to rise that high. The 'attacks' on him and his resistance against it, all seem a little staged. That alone is reason enough to spend less time on twitter, and more time here.

It's a funny world we live in. The European Commission posting a warning aimed at Twitter/X, on Twitter/X. "Hi, we're investigating you and we might ban you, because we don't like you. But, while you're still operational, let us post that announcement on your platform. Because you know, it is pretty useful." And this is why I'm here. I'm interacting with local government, more and more, thanks to the success of this project. Had a meeting with the local mayor yesterday, which is the highest office of local government. And yes, we discussed #Bitcoin. Talking to him, I realised that while it isn't ideal, it's not that much of a problem. The problem is not local government making decisions for a town of 100k people, with whom they can realistically have a real relationship. The real problem is national government making decisions for 60 million people. With whom there's no hope in hell to ever have a real relationship. And that's not even mentioning supranational entities. That's just pure insanity.

If you take a moment to think about it, it is truly bizarre that the military arm of the world's largest government (and the most powerful military force on the planet) has spent trillions of dollars on wars in my lifetime, owns trillions in assets, asks for billions more every year, and assumes an air of superiority (and the moral high ground) when it comes to whatever everyone else is doing... Yet they haven't passed a clean audit in years and people walk around, not only obvious to this fact but, even if they glanced at a headline, or saw it on TV, they probably wouldn't even give it a second thought.

S&P downgraded the US federal government’s pristine AAA credit rating on August 5, 2011, because they (S&P) were “pessimistic” that Congress would be able to “stabilize the government’s debt dynamics anytime soon”. And the agency projected the government’s debt would reach an unbelievable $20.1 trillion by 2021. The US government got angry, accused S&P of fraud, then sued them. They eventually settled with a $1 billion fine. As it turns out, despite being sued for fraud, S&P was wildly optimistic. The US government debt reached $20.1 trillion, not in 2021, but 4 years ahead of their forecast, on September 8, 2017. I think it's safe to say that, trusting your government with spending is the equavalent of letting a child pay themselves their own pocket money.
