Maybe I should start regular postings on #stoic practices. I consider stoicism a universal action based philosophy that trains people to understanding existence, virtue, and to improve and sustain our stoic practice. Any folks here into #stoicism? What I appreciate a lot about stoicism is that it is an action based philosophy. This means that it does not seek to prove itself through speculation but through observation and considerations of our place in the universe. One important lesson that Stoics point to is that we are not in control of everything. There are things that are in our control and things that are outside of control. Things in our control include how we react and respond to events or ideas. Things outside of our control is our fame, wealth, people's opinions, and anything that happens. Since we cannot control what happens to us, we can at least control how we respond. So that's an important lesson or principle that many ancient and contemporary stoics point to. But what about the action-oriented feature? This is where practical activities help us practice what we believe in. There are so many different practices. One practice is journaling and morning and evening reflections. This is where you keep notes about your life, what you experience, and what you observe about yourself and your responses to events. Morning and evening reflections are also a great way to practice this observational part of Stoicism. Since I'm becoming more active in posting onto #nostr, maybe this is another great way of practicing, writing. Writing forces us to make legible our thoughts that may be incomplete. By expressing a thought in written form, I force myself to internalize the meaning and express it in a way another can understand. Anyways that's all for now. #philosophy #ethics #virtue

Everyday our rights to being anonymous and private is being eroded. The technological mesh that is chipping away at anonymity gives more power to that mesh, furthering its encroachment on our very individual beings. This is being driven by centralization of power and the surveillance industrial complex. state power and surveillance capitalism fuse into one power and will not stop this expansion.

#Anonymity allows for a transformation of identity into creative and curious ways. It allows for full expression. It allows for committing mistakes in public. It also allows for people to learn from these mistakes. Anonymity in an era of bright #surveillance and #AI hype will keep the creative energy of humanity alive. There may be bad actors out there who would take advantage of anonymity or #privacy, but that would apply to every single else these bad actors would be using too. Pursue the criminal, do not attack the human right. Attack the foundation that gives rise to criminal behavior in the first place. Resist all attacks that pillage at the foundation of private spaces and individuality. Individuality in an age of mass surveillance and commercialization is under attack. Anonymity is the only defense for individuals and groups. Private spaces will allow people to express their values without being psy-op'd. If power was diffused to all in society, perhaps we wouldn't need anonymity, and people can freely express themselves without fear of anything. The silver lining about this entire surveillance mesh is that surveillance creates it's opposite. It cannot erase anonymity. Anonymity will flourish under these conditions. #freedom

What I love about #nostr is that my feed is not organized by some algorithm. Very refreshing to go back to a true follow list

Here's a little #stoic wisdom: don't be upset if events don't go the way you'd want them to. Be thankful they happened and use them as opportunities to learn, and be happy you can show your self in tough situations.

Am I late for halloween? 🎃 It doesn't matter, what is time anyways? We live in an internet that is haunted. The internet is a spooky mesh, encased by humming machines. Traces exist and are ephemeral, and a permanent trace ossifies into the past. Eye entities watch and reveal through surveillance. The only defense in such a surveilled mesh is to not be directly seen, it is to hide in a dark glow. or to go outside and touch some grass, or something.

How many of you #monero #xmr people run their own node? over tor? secure the network? utilize it for payments? use other cryptography utilities like pgp/gpg? learn as much as you can about good #privacy practices? not get bogged into divisive politics and is more embracing of difference? also not be obsessed with line go up tunnel vision?
