Why am I up so early in the morning? My dog had a seizure. They are becoming more frequent. After the seizure, she's disoriented and a little scared, and eventually gains enough mobility to climb the dog stairs next to the bed, burrow under the blanket, and sleep next to me. She's not a particularly nice dog, her Chihuahua senility getting the best of her most of the time. So these moments of her vulnerability and trust in me are kind of precious. I think about her younger years, and how uncontrollably excited she was to see me whenever I visited. I like to think there's still that piece of her left as she snores next to me.
