A little sun this morning after weeks of grey skies. I baked #sourdough, and this girl is patiently waiting for her dad to make her some toast—he’s the toast master in this house! I’ve tried to copy him, but I swear he’s got some secret. It’s just butter, honey, and salt, but somehow it’s sooo good!! #foodstr #dogstr

I had Crying Tiger for dinner! 😭 🐅 Don’t worry—it’s not tiger meat 😅 It’s marinated skirt steak, usually char-grilled, but I did my version pan-seared. Crying Tiger (เสือร้องไห้ - Suea Rong Hai) comes from Northeastern Thailand (Isaan), where the food is all about big, bold, spicy, and sour flavors that go perfectly with sticky rice. I also made a spicy chicken lemongrass soup to round things out. But why the name Crying Tiger? Some say the meat is so delicious it could make a tiger cry for more. Others say a tiger would cry if you took it away. Either way, it’s one of those dishes that’s simple but sooo satisfying. #foodstr #siamstr image

Longan (ลำไย) is one of those fruits that’s always better chilled. The flesh is sweet, soft yet a little crisp (if that makes sense 😆), and it’s quite similar to lychee or rambutan. The shell is firm but easy to peel, though the pit is the annoying part. I used the end of a spoon to pit them so we can enjoy them later without any interruptions. #foodstr #siamstr
Yum Pak Kood (ยำผักกรูด) — a Thai-style spicy salad made with edible ferns. Fresh, crunchy, a little spicy, a little tangy, and so addictive with rice. Since it’s been raining a lot lately, the ferns are extra crisp, fresh and green. My parents picked them straight from their garden, which makes them taste even better. 😉 #foodstr #siamstr

Friday night treats while watching Muay Thai! I made a no-refined-sugar version of Snickers—layers of dates, homemade peanut butter, mixed nuts, and a dark chocolate coating.
