In the future I think we'll move past metal seed phrases for Bitcoin backups to a more high-tech and elegant solution. We'll look back at this era as the dark ages. When we essentially turned a digitally native asset back into a physical one. If bitcoin is the most advanced form of money, then the process of securing it shouldn't be so archaic. We have a groundbreaking computer science revolution allowing value transfer across the internet without third parties, yet securing it involves carefully etching/hammering dots on metal. The process is stressful. One mistake and you might lose your money forever. I've done it many times and it's always nerve-wracking. Once you bang these little dots or numbers into the metal, you must hide this piece of metal carefully. If you don’t, or if someone finds it, they could steal all your bitcoin. The UX is at odds with "money the future." Steve Job’s said “You've got to start with the customer experience and work backward to the technology.” Here, it feels the opposite happened. We'll eventually find a better way and look back at this era like we do paper wallets.

🌶️ take: The risk of leaving coins on a custodial platform far outweighs the risk of address manipulation during transit between an internet-connected device and a hardware wallet. The choice to omit a screen and prioritize making self-custody straightforward and usable is good.

Historic vibes at what is likely the first ever Chaumian ecash hackday. Kicked off with an overview of #fedimint and #cashu. Feels like an ecash renaissance is brewing. Now we cook.

Tinkering on the eNuts settings UI. Trying to improve visual contrast between background & content groups. I changed from tabbed design to large headings for clear separation, I think this makes it easier for the user to locate specific fields. What do you think?

Yo yo, here's the first version of what an eNuts x Nostr payment integration may look like. Any feedback? #buildinpublic
Do not underestimate the power of eCash on cashu.
Any tips of guides for UXTO consolidation? Planning a big effort this weekend to organize and consolidate all my little UTXOs.

If you're trying to get eCash with a lightning invoice, which way feels better for you?
If you were exchanging sats to eCash, would you rather type in the amount on the eCash app or while paying with your lightning wallet?

RIP Norm Macdonald. One of the best to ever do it.
Ever since I started designing for Bitcoin eCash wallets, I've noticed something: Getting eCash feels like there's this extra step the user has to complete: Swapping sats via lightning for eCash. I heard this comparison on the Bitcoin Review podcast once – imagine eCash is like poker chips at a casino. It kind of clicked. We give dollars, get chips; give sats, get eCash. Wondering how to best frame this to the end user. Abstract this extra step away or embrace it? What to name it? "Topping up"? "Exchanging"? I like the erm "exchange" because it suggests a two-way process. Users can convert sats to eCash and vice versa.
The positive feedback eNuts has received so far is really motivating. Thanks to everyone giving it a try sharing feedback. We’re diligently taking notes for future improvements. If you’re not yet running eNuts you can fix that here:
eNuts - Private Bitcoin Wallet
Private, simple Bitcoin payments with an intuitive UX.

I like how this animation turned out. It was inspired by Wallet of Satoshi's payment experience. It's our little way of offering a nutty reward to users. We have a few UX/UI updates coming. Share your feedback and let's build together:

eNuts iOS TestFlight and Android beta coming VERY soon! I've been helping with the design of the wallet. Check it out: enuts.cash

At #BalticHoneybadger I saw Bitcoiners globally unite like Voltron. Witnessed firsthand people from all over the world building a protocol and collaborating without a central planner – so inspiring. Loved meeting old friends and new ones IRL.
