This red pagoda looks ancient, but it was built in 1963 as a peace memorial ⛩️.
To reach this view you climb almost 400 steps up the hill. From the top you get the postcard shot: the pagoda, the town, and Mount Fuji in one frame.
Fuji is a volcano, and it last erupted in 1707. In winter the snow line drops low and the morning sun lights the peak in soft pink and gold.

This week in 1972, the Elton John LP “Honky Château” debuted on the US Billboard 200 Albums Chart at #110 (June 17)

The album was named after the 18th century French chateau where it was recorded, Château d'Hérouville.
It eventually went all the way to #1 in the US, the first of Elton’s seven consecutive US #1 albums.
“Honky Château” also went to #1 in Spain, #2 in the UK, #3 in Canada, #4 in Australia, #5 in Italy, #8 in Norway, and #9 in the Netherlands.
Once again, all the songs were written by one of rock’s best songwriting teams: Elton and Bernie Taupin, and the album produced two hit singles, "Rocket Man" and "Honky Cat".
In 2020 it was ranked #251 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.

On this day in 1971, The Rolling Stones LP “Sticky Fingers” went to #1 on the UK Albums Chart (June 19)
The Stones’ 9th British and 11th American studio album was released on their new, and own label Rolling Stones Records, and was the first to feature the now iconic Rolling Stones lips and tongue logo.
It was the Stones first studio album without Brian Jones who died two years earlier, as well as their first full studio album featuring his replacement Mick Taylor, who played on just two songs on their previous studio album “Let It Bleed”.
The iconic cover artwork, conceived by Andy Warhol and photographed and designed by members of his art collective, The Factory, showed the now-famous picture of a guy in tight jeans, with a working zipper that opened to reveal underwear fabric.
The cover was expensive to produce and damaged the vinyl record, so later re-issues featured just the outer photo of the jeans.
Featuring classic Stones songs like “Brown Sugar”, Wild Horses”, and “Bitch”, this was the legendary band's first album to reach #1 on both the UK AND the US albums charts, and in fact, went to #1 in many countries all around the world, including Australia, Canada, the Netherlands, Spain, Belgium, Norway, Germany and Sweden.
“Sticky Fingers” was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999, and was ranked #104 on Rolling Stone’s 2020 list of The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

Caló des Moro, Mallorca, Spain 🇪🇸 This cove is barely 30 metres wide 🏖️, tucked between limestone cliffs on the island's southeast coast near Santanyí.
The walk down is steep and rocky 🥾, which is exactly why it stays this empty even in peak summer ☀️, and the water turns that ridiculous Caribbean colour because the seabed is pure white sand.

Zamboanga Peninsula showcases diverse landscapes ranging from coastal plains and lowlands to rugged mountain ranges, as revealed through elevation and terrain data.
Rich in natural resources, culture, and history, the Region reflects centuries of settlement, trade, and community development.
Through various administrative changes over time, the Region has evolved into its present composition. On July 30, 2025, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. signed Executive Order No. 91, formally including Sulu in the Zamboanga Peninsula Region.
Today, the Region comprises Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, Zamboanga City, Isabela City, and Sulu, covering a total area of 18,504.43 km². Bordered by the Sulu Sea, Moro Sea, and Mindanao Sea, it remains a vital center for agriculture, fisheries, and coastal resources.
The Zamboanga Peninsula stands as a testament to the harmony between nature, livelihood, and culture an enduring landscape worthy of appreciation, conservation, and protection for future generations.

Walking is a part of my morning meditation and I love it out in nature..... 
Vienna turned four old gasometers into a city within a city.
Built between 1896 and 1899, these huge brick structures once stored town gas for Vienna. Each one could hold around 90,000 cubic meters of gas.
After they were shut down in the 1980s, the historic outer walls were preserved and the interiors were completely reworked. Between 1999 and 2001, the Gasometers were transformed into apartments, offices, shops, entertainment spaces, a cinema, and a music venue.
The project brought together architects including Jean Nouvel, Coop Himmelb(l)au, Manfred Wehdorn, and Wilhelm Holzbauer — turning industrial infrastructure into one of Europe’s best-known examples of adaptive reuse.

The new wavey power-pop anthem was written by the band’s guitarist Nick Christian Sayer, and sung by the pouting Wendy James, with the clip bursting onto the scene as a favourite on tv music video shows of the day…
The song from the band’s debut album “Pop Art” was Transvision Vamp’s first UK Top 40 hit, also going all the way to #1 in South Africa and Norway, #2 in Finland, #3 in Ireland, #4 in Switzerland, #6 in Portugal, #7 in Australia, #8 in Sweden, #9 in New Zealand, #18 in Denmark, #21 in Belgium, and #23 in the Netherlands and Germany.
