🌊 SURF 'N TURF 🏝️ -THE BORACAY ISLAND LIFE- image Protomé of Pegasus (Rhyton Spout) Date: 4th century BC Material: Gold (23.65 carats) Height: 14.8 cm Weight: 449.2 g image This remarkable object represents the protomé (forepart) of a rhyton in the form of Pegasus, the mythical winged horse. The figure is shown rearing dynamically on its hind legs, mouth open as if in motion, with the ears swept back, conveying speed and controlled power. A finely rendered bridle runs along the neck, indicated by a delicate line of punched dots, demonstrating the goldsmith’s mastery of detail. image Between the ears rises a short, backward-curving horn—an archaic and symbolic feature that may reflect local Thracian interpretations of the Pegasus myth. The wings, attached to the shoulders, are modeled in high relief, their feathers carefully articulated; although only partially preserved, they still convey a strong sense of volume and movement. The sculpture is fully three-dimensional and was cast in high-purity gold, originally serving as the terminal spout of a ceremonial drinking vessel used in elite or ritual contexts. The rhyton was accidentally discovered in 1968 during agricultural work near the village of Vazovo, northeastern Bulgaria. Unfortunately, the object suffered severe damage at the time of discovery, and substantial portions are now missing. image Despite its fragmentary state, the protomé stands as an exceptional example of Thracian toreutics of the Classical period, combining Greek mythological imagery with local artistic traditions and aristocratic display. 🌊 SURF 'N TURF 🏝️ -THE BORACAY ISLAND LIFE- image 17 Herbal Alternatives to Antibiotics. Oftentimes, the world’s best medications are not the ones developed in labs, but rather the ones made by Mother Nature. For thousands of years, mankind has relied on various herbs to treat a wide range of conditions. While the advent of antibiotics drastically reduced the popularity of these herbal alternatives, they still remain effective to this day and are starting to enjoy more popularity as many diseases have grown resistant to antibiotics. Basil Basil in Planter Basil isn't just a key ingredient in pesto—it's also packed with compounds like eugenol and linalool, which is why it can treat infections and inflammation. You can munch on fresh basil leaves to help calm an upset stomach, or you can brew them into a soothing tea. If you’ve got a cut or scrape, applying basil oil—just a bit mixed with some carrier oil—can help keep the area clean and support healing. Plus, basil is very easy to grow, especially on a sunny windowsill, so you can always have some fresh leaves available. Whether you’re whipping up dinner or need a natural remedy, having some basil around is a great idea. Cinnamon Cinnamon Sticks with Powder Much more than a great seasoning, cinnamon is such an effective natural antibiotic that it is even able to kill E. Coli – a dangerous, hard-to-treat microbe that is the cause of several serious diseases. Cinnamon has even been referred to as a “lethal” natural antibiotic thanks to how effective it is at killing unwanted bacteria. In addition to its antibacterial properties, cinnamon is also a strong antioxidant, working to strengthen your immune system so it's better able to fight off diseases. To get the most antibiotic benefits out of cinnamon, you will want to use a pure, real Ceylon cinnamon supplement. Another one of the most effective uses of cinnamon is to combat fungal infections such as athlete's foot. Applying cinnamon bark oil to the affected area has been shown to be an excellent way to treat these fungal infections. Clove Bowl of Fresh Cloves Clove oil is a powerhouse when it comes to fighting off bacteria with its strong antimicrobial and antiseptic properties. This makes it incredibly versatile, not just in tackling a variety of bacterial strains, but also in dental care. For anyone who's ever had a toothache, clove oil can be a real lifesaver. It's incredibly effective at numbing pain due to its eugenol content, which is a natural anesthetic. Just a small dab on your gums can significantly reduce toothache pain. Plus, it's great for treating oral infections. You can apply it directly to the affected area or dilute a few drops in water to make a soothing mouthwash. This not only helps in reducing pain but also in keeping your mouth clean and free from bacteria. But clove oil has uses beyond dental care. It can also treat skin infections, and when diffused, it can even help clear your sinuses if you’re feeling congested. Echinacea Echinacea Flowers Echinacea has long been used to treat open wounds in order to facilitate faster healing and ensure the wound doesn't become infected. However, today echinacea is most often taken orally to treat the cold and flu. Unlike some herbal antibiotics, echinacea has displayed the ability to destroy some of the deadliest forms of bacteria, including the bacteria responsible for MRSA, staphylococcus aureus. At one time, echinacea was one of the most commonly used natural antibiotics in the United States. When pharmaceutical companies began developing antibiotics in the mid-1900s, the herb somewhat fell out of favor. However, now that many microbes have begun to develop resistance to antibiotics, echinacea is becoming popular once again, especially echinacea extract. Elderberry Elderberry Bush Liquid elderberry extract is arguably the most effective natural antibiotic for treating the flu. In fact, it’s documented that elderberry was used extensively about 150 years ago during a serious influenza outbreak in order to save countless lives in the United States. Liquid elderberry extract should be taken orally when you first begin to show symptoms of the cold or flu. While it won’t prevent you from coming down with the disease entirely, it will drastically reduce its severity, leading to milder symptoms and a shorter duration of the disease. In addition to liquid elderberry extract, another common form of elderberry that is used as an antibiotic is elderberry lozenges. These lozenges are often combined with zinc as well, which works in tandem with elderberry to fight off the cold and flu. Garlic Dried Garlic Bulbs Garlic is more of a vegetable an an herb, but it's so effective that I had to include it in this list. For thousands of years, garlic has been a go-to natural antibiotic. It was even used to ward off the plague back in the 1700s. The main active ingredient that gives garlic its antibiotic, antimicrobial and antiviral properties is allicin – a compound which is known to kill unfriendly bacteria. In addition to this, garlic is also high in natural antioxidants which give it some major immune system-boosting benefits. Before pharmaceutical antibiotics came into popularity after WWII, garlic was one of the most commonly prescribed natural antibiotics for treating a wide range of diseases. Garlic oil can be applied inside the ear to treat ear infections, eaten raw to treat colds and other internal infections, or applied to the skin to treat boils, poison ivy, and poison oak rashes. Ginger Root Sliced Ginger According to a study published in The Journal of Pain, ginger is an effective antibacterial agent that can be used to treat a number of infections. Since ginger is a strong anti-inflammatory, it is especially useful for treating inflammatory diseases such as pneumonia, gout, and rheumatoid arthritis. Ginger has also shown the ability to be effective at treating gastral infections such as bacterial diarrhea. Best of all, not only is ginger able to help kill the microbes that cause these infections, it’s also effective in treating the symptoms as well, helping to soothe nausea as well as inflammation. Ginger root can be added to many dishes, or you can take a ginger supplement for a more potent dosage. Goldenseal Goldenseal Flower Goldenseal contains an alkaloid called berberine which studies have shown to be effective at killing off Gram-positive bacteria such as MRSA. In addition to berberine, goldenseal contains several other compounds that have been shown to increase the effectiveness of the berberine found in the herb. Today, goldenseal ranks as one of the top-five best selling herbal products in the United States. It is commonly used to prevent the cold and flu as well as treat eye infections, respiratory infections, urinary tract infections, ulcers, canker sores, vaginitis, and gonorrhea. Goldenseal is available as a supplement or as a liquid extract. Lavender Lavender and Bees Lavender essential oil is one of the most effective topical antiseptics available today. When applied to cuts and scrapes, it is able to facilitate the growth of new skin, reduce scarring, and prevent the wound from becoming infected. In fact, the antimicrobial properties of lavender are so effective that lavender essential oil has shown the ability to treat Staph infection. Like several other essential oils mentioned, applying lavender topically is also great for killing the microbes that cause acne and other skin conditions. Lavender essential oil is also commonly used to treat ear infections and is gentle enough that it can be used to treat these infections in children. And thanks to its calming effects, it can even help you fall asleep at night. Lemon Balm Lemon Balm Image via Andrea 44 / CC BY 2.0 Lemon balm is a gentle yet potent herb that's effective against both viral and bacterial infections, making it a versatile addition to your herbal medicine chest. It’s particularly good for treating cold sores and other symptoms caused by the herpes simplex virus. You can apply lemon balm topically in cream form to help soothe and heal cold sores. Plus, its antiviral properties help reduce the duration and severity of outbreaks. For a broader immune boost, sipping on lemon balm tea can be a great way to fight internal bacterial infections. The herb’s calming effects also make the tea a great choice for easing stress and improving sleep—both of which are important for maintaining a strong immune system. Lemon balm can also treat digestive issues such as bloating and indigestion. Its mild sedative properties help relax the digestive tract, making it effective in soothing stomach discomfort and promoting overall digestive health. Whether used in tea, as a topical cream, or even in culinary dishes for its mild, minty flavor, lemon balm is a valuable herb for both its health benefits and its versatility in use. Myrrh Myrrh Resin and Oil Myrrh, with its rich history as an antimicrobial agent dating back to ancient times, is a powerful tool against bacterial infections, especially those affecting the skin. It can be used both topically and internally. Topically, myrrh is highly effective. When used as a tincture, it can be applied directly to sores, boils, and other skin infections. This not only promotes faster healing, it also prevents the spread of bacteria. Myrrh helps cleanse the wound and reduce inflammation, making it great for natural wound care. Internally, myrrh can be taken in small doses as a supplement to help strengthen the immune system and fight off bacterial infections from within. However, it's important to use caution when taking myrrh internally, as it can be potent. Always consult with a healthcare provider to make sure it's safe for your specific health conditions. Myrrh can be used for oral health as well. It can be used in mouthwashes or gum pastes to help treat gum disease and oral infections thanks to its antibacterial properties. Its ability to help heal mouth ulcers and reduce gum inflammation make it a great addition to your dental emergency kit. Neem Neem Plant and Oil Neem is an oil harvested from the neem tree that grows in India, and it has been used as an antibiotic for over 2,000 years. Neem is most commonly applied topically in order to combat bacterial skin infections including acne and dermatitis. However, neem can also be taken orally in small doses for short periods of time to combat internal infections as well. It’s important to note, however, that long-term oral use of neem or taking large doses of neem at one time is hard on your liver and kidneys and may lead to damage. In most cases, neem is best used as a topical antibiotic for treating various skin conditions. One advantage that neem has over many herbal antibiotics is that it has been heavily researched. Medical researchers in India have studied neem extensively and have proven it to be effective for treating a wide range of conditions. In fact, a neem-based medicine was even patented in the United States as a treatment for AIDS. Oregano Oregano Spices and Leaves Oregano – or more specifically the highly concentrated oil of oregano – is an excellent antibiotic. Its active ingredient, carvacrol, exhibits powerful antimicrobial properties. Best of all, oil of oregano specifically targets foreign, harmful microbes, leaving the natural, beneficial microbes in your body intact, and it also doesn't encourage antibiotic resistance like many antibiotics. To ensure that your oil of oregano works as intended, you’ll want to use oil of oregano that has a carvacrol content of at least 70%. Oil of oregano should be taken orally upon the first onset of symptoms. When taken in this manner, oregano can be used to greatly reduce the severity of the cold and flu. Peppermint Peppermint Leaves Peppermint oil demonstrates strong antimicrobial properties and can be applied topically or taken orally in order to treat a wide range of conditions. When applied topically, peppermint oil is great for treating infections of the skin such as acne and dermatitis. Taken orally, peppermint oil is able to treat a wide range of infections and is especially effective at treating gastral infections thanks to its ability to combat nausea. Peppermint oil can even be used to treat infant colic and has been shown by medical research to be just as effective at treating colic as the commonly prescribed drug Simethione without any of the unwanted side effects. In addition to all these benefits, peppermint also demonstrates natural cooling properties. If you’ve ever felt the cooling effect of peppermint gum or breath mints you’ve seen these properties first-hand. The cooling effect of peppermint makes it a great fever reducer, enabling you to treat one of the worst symptoms of the cold and flu while at the same time killing the disease itself. All of this is why peppermint essential oil is so popular. Sage Sage Leaves Sage, which is known for its antibacterial properties, is a versatile herb that can treat a variety of ailments, especially those related to throat and dental infections. Brewing a strong cup of sage tea and using it as a gargle can effectively soothe sore throats and eliminate bacteria. For dental health, sage acts as a natural disinfectant, helping to cleanse the mouth and reduce gum disease and tooth infections. You can use sage in a homemade mouthwash by steeping the leaves in hot water and then cooling it down. Rinsing your mouth with this can help maintain oral hygiene and prevent dental issues. In addition to its uses in dental care, sage is great for skin health. It can be applied topically as an essential oil or as part of a herbal salve to treat skin infections such as eczema or acne. Its antiseptic properties help cleanse the skin, while its anti-inflammatory effects reduce redness and swelling. Thyme Thyme in Garden Thyme, enriched with the potent compound thymol, is a powerful natural antibiotic, exhibiting strong antimicrobial, antifungal, and antiprotozoal properties. This makes thyme exceptionally effective in treating a broad spectrum of infections, from respiratory issues to fungal skin conditions. The power of thyme goes beyond just combating pathogens. As one of the strongest antioxidants, thyme supports the immune system, enhancing its ability to ward off and fight infections. Incorporating thyme into your diet or using it in herbal teas can provide a steady boost to your immune health. Thyme oil, derived from the leaves, is particularly good for topical applications. It can be used diluted in a carrier oil to treat fungal infections like athlete’s foot or as a chest rub (blended with other carrier oils) to help relieve respiratory conditions. Its antifungal properties make it a valuable ally against yeast infections and other microbial disorders. Turmeric Turmeric in Bowl with Spoon Turmeric is celebrated not only for its vibrant color and flavor but also for its medicinal properties, primarily due to curcumin, its active compound. Curcumin is highly regarded for its potent antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, making turmeric a staple in traditional medicine for centuries. When consumed orally, turmeric helps combat internal infections and supports digestive health. It's particularly effective against inflammation-related disorders such as arthritis and gastrointestinal issues. Adding turmeric to your daily diet can help strengthen your immune system thanks to its high antioxidant content. Turmeric has external applications as well. Creating a paste from turmeric powder and water and applying it to cuts, burns, or skin infections can prevent bacterial growth and speed up the healing process. This is thanks to turmeric’s antimicrobial properties, which effectively cleanse wounds and reduce healing time. It's anti-inflammatory properties also make it an excellent remedy for skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema, soothing skin and reducing redness and itchiness. Used regularly, turmeric can enhance skin health, giving it a natural glow and improving overall complexion. Final Thoughts All of these herbs can be incredibly helpful—perhaps even life saving—if regular antibiotics aren't available. However, they should only be used to treat serious infections as a last resort. Unless you're in a grid-down survival scenario, you should use regular antibiotics if you have an infection. If you want to try one of these instead, talk to your doctor about it first. "Pure signal, no noise" Credits Goes to the respective Author ✍️/ Photographer📸 🐇 🕳️

🌊 SURF 'N TURF 🏝️ -THE BORACAY ISLAND LIFE- Marine Life in The Philippines & S.E. Asia. and the World. Post #231: Gelatinous plankton. image How can you study species that dissolve when they are removed from the ocean? That's the challenge of studying ctenophores, a group of gelatinous plankton commonly known as comb jellies. While on a National Geographic Pristine Seas expedition in Colombia, researchers used professional-grade equipment to capture high resolution recordings of the comb jellies. The images, a few of which are seen here, were then used to identify and make detailed observation of these sea creatures. image The resulting inventory — the first of its kind for Colombia's waters — identified 15 comb jellies, six of which had never been seen before in this region. "This paper beautifully illustrates what happens when scientific rigor meets the art of underwater photography," shares Juan Mayorga, a Pristine Seas marine scientist and one of the authors of a new study detailing the finds. image "These fragile organisms dissolve when collected in nets, so they can only be studied through images. 🌊 SURF 'N TURF 🏝️ -THE BORACAY ISLAND LIFE- THE DOOMSDAY DJ: MOVIES FOR THE POST APOCALYPSE image She never learned to write her name, but her son made sure everyone would know it. Her name was Bryna. She left a small village in what is now Belarus, bringing only hope with her when she sailed to America in the early 1900s. She was joining Herschel, the man she would marry and who had promised her a better life. Instead, she arrived in Amsterdam, New York. It was not the famous city, but a struggling mill town. She did not find prosperity, but crushing poverty. She did not have a loving husband, but a man who gambled away what little he earned as a ragman and never called her by her name. He only said, "Hey, you." Bryna could not read or write, but she could work. She scrubbed laundry until her hands bled, cleaned, survived, and raised seven children with almost nothing. When there was no money for food, she walked to the Jewish butcher and asked for bones that most people threw away. She carried them home and boiled them for hours, making a thin broth last for days to keep her children alive. Her youngest, and only son, was named Issur. Everyone called him Izzy. Years later, he remembered, "On good days, we ate omelettes made with water. On bad days, we didn't eat at all." But Bryna had something poverty could not take away: belief. When young Izzy talked about his impossible dream of becoming an actor, she did not laugh. She encouraged him. A ragman's son becoming a Hollywood star? She believed it before anyone else. Izzy grew up to become Kirk Douglas. He became a legend—Spartacus. As Issur transformed into Kirk Douglas and ascended the heights of Hollywood, he carried the memory of the woman who boiled bones into every board room and onto every film set. His success was not merely a personal victory but a retrospective vindication of his mother’s suffering. In 1949, at the dawn of his greatest fame, he made a gesture of profound love by naming his independent film company Bryna Productions. It was a defiant act of reclamation; the woman who had been denied her name in her own household would now have it emblazoned on the silver screen for millions to see. Every film produced under that banner served as a public acknowledgement of the debt he owed to her resilience. This tribute reached its peak in 1958 with the release of The Vikings. In the bright lights of Times Square, Kirk Douglas brought his elderly mother to see something she never imagined. High above the crowds, a huge billboard read, "Bryna Presents The Vikings." For a woman who could not read or write her own name, seeing it lit up in the sky moved her to tears. She died just four months later, comforting her son in her final moments, but she left knowing her name was no longer hidden in a small mill town. Kirk Douglas lived for more than a hundred years, but he always said his greatest achievement was making sure the world would remember the name of the woman who believed in him when she had nothing else. <We Are Human Angels > Authors Awakening the Human Spirit We are the authors of 'We Are Human Angels,' the book that has spread a new vision of the human experience and has been spontaneously translated into 14 languages by readers. 🌊 SURF 'N TURF 🏝️ -THE BORACAY ISLAND LIFE- image THE TUDOR DYNASTY (1485–1603) 1️⃣. England Before the Tudors: A Nation in Crisis: Before the Tudors, England was exhausted by nearly thirty years of civil war known as the Wars of the Roses (1455–1485). This conflict was fought between two branches of the royal Plantagenet family: ♦️House of Lancaster (red rose) ♦️House of York (white rose) Kings rose and fell rapidly. Nobles fought private wars. Law and order weakened. The monarchy had lost its authority, and England desperately needed stability. It is from this chaos that the Tudors emerged. 2️⃣. The Origins of the Tudor Family: From Obscurity to Ambition: 🔸The Tudors were not ancient English royalty. 🔸The family originated in Wales 🔸They were minor nobles, not powerful lords Owen Tudor: 🔸A Welsh courtier 🔸Married Catherine of Valois, widow of King Henry V (secretly) 🔸This marriage connected the Tudors to the royal bloodline Their son: 🔸Edmund Tudor was made Earl of Richmond 🔸Edmund married Margaret Beaufort, a descendant of King Edward III (House of Lancaster) 👉 This marriage gave the Tudors a claim to the English throne though a weak one. 3️⃣. Henry Tudor & the Battle of Bosworth (1485): Henry Tudor (Henry VII): 🔹A Lancastrian claimant 🔹Spent years in exile (Brittany & France) 🔹His claim was fragile, but timing was perfect Richard III (Yorkist King): Unpopular: 🔹Accused of murdering his nephews (“Princes in the Tower”) 🔹Many nobles secretly opposed him The Turning Point: Battle of Bosworth Field: 🔹1485 🔹Henry defeated Richard III 🔹Richard III was killed in battle (last English king to die on battlefield) Henry crowned himself King Henry VII not by Parliament but by victory, a powerful symbolic act. 4️⃣. How Henry VII Strengthened the Tudor Dynasty: Henry VII ruled wisely and cautiously. His goal was not glory but survival. Key Strategies: 1️⃣ Marriage Politics: 🔹Married Elizabeth of York 🔹United Lancaster (red) and York (white) 🔹Symbolized by the Tudor Rose 2️⃣ Control of the Nobility: 🔹Reduced power of nobles 🔹Banned private armies 🔹Used fines and bonds to control loyalty 3️⃣ Financial Strength: 🔹Strengthened royal treasury 🔹Avoided unnecessary wars 🔹England became economically stable 4️⃣ Strong Administration: 🔹Strengthened courts 🔹Enforced law strictly By the time Henry VII died in 1509 the Tudor throne was secure. 5️⃣. Henry VIII: From Renaissance Prince to Tyrant King: Early Henry VIII: 🔸Came to throne at 18 🔸Handsome, athletic, educated 🔸Fluent in Latin, French, theology 🔸A true Renaissance prince 🔸England admired him. 6️⃣. Henry VIII and the Marriage Crisis: ♦️Catherine of Aragon: Spanish princess Widow of Henry’s brother Arthur Marriage approved by the Pope ♦️The Problem: Catherine gave Henry no male heir Only surviving child: Mary ♦️Henry believed: A female ruler would weaken England God was punishing him 7️⃣. The Break with the Catholic Church: ♦️Henry requested: Annulment of marriage from the Pope ♦️Why the Pope Refused: Catherine was aunt of Emperor Charles V Political pressure Church law prevented annulment ♦️Henry’s Response: Instead of obeying Rome, Henry did something unprecedented: 👉 He rejected the Pope’s authority 8️⃣. The English Reformation: ♦️Act of Supremacy (1534) Henry declared himself Supreme Head of the Church of England Pope’s authority ended in England This was not purely religious it was political. ♦️Dissolution of Monasteries: Church lands seized Monasteries destroyed Wealth transferred to Crown 📌 Result: England became Protestant Catholic power collapsed Education, libraries and charity systems were damaged 9️⃣. Henry VIII’s Six Marriages (Symbol of Instability): 1. Catherine of Aragon – divorced 2. Anne Boleyn – executed 3. Jane Seymour – died (gave male heir Edward) 4. Anne of Cleves – divorced 5. Catherine Howard – executed 6. Catherine Parr – survived ♦️These marriages reflect: Obsession with male heir Increasing paranoia Absolute power 🔟. After Henry VIII: Religious Chaos: ♦️Edward VI (1547–1553): Son of Jane Seymour Strong Protestant reforms Died young ♦️Mary I (1553–1558) Catholic Tried to restore Rome Burned Protestants Earned title “Bloody Mary” ♦️Elizabeth I (1558–1603) Daughter of Anne Boleyn Balanced Protestantism Religious compromise Stability returned Elizabeth’s reign is considered: 👉 The Golden Age of England 1️⃣1️⃣. Why the Tudors Matter for English Literature: Printing expanded Education improved Patronage encouraged writers Theatre flourished Language modernized Without Tudors: No Shakespeare No English Renaissance No modern English identity 1️⃣2️⃣. End of the Tudor Dynasty: Elizabeth I died unmarried No heir Tudor line ended in 1603 Stuarts succeeded But the Tudors had already reshaped England forever. 1️⃣3️⃣. Conclusion: The Tudor dynasty transformed England: From medieval chaos → modern nation From Catholic obedience → religious independence From feudal rule → centralized monarchy From Latin dominance → English cultural identity They were not born powerful but they built power intelligently, ruthlessly and permanently. #tudorhistory #Tudor #englishliterature #englishliteraturestudent #foryoupageシ "Pure signal, no noise" Credits Goes to the respective Author ✍️/ Photographer📸 🐇 🕳️

🌊 SURF 'N TURF 🏝️ -THE BORACAY ISLAND LIFE- TUNES FOR THE POST APOCALYPSE image image On this day in 1982, The J. Geils Band single “Centrefold” went to #1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 (February 6) “Centerfold” was written by the band's keyboard player Seth Justman, who wrote or co-wrote all the tracks on the “Freeze Frame” LP. Songfacts reports that Justman claimed that the reason you didn't hear much synthesizer on earlier J. Geils albums is because they couldn't afford them: The band was trapped in the record company debt cycle, constantly owing money despite their success. The former blues-based rockers really latched onto the new wave sound with this one… Despite releasing their debut studio LP way back in 1970, the J. Geils band had never cracked the Top 10 with a single anywhere in the world before. Now they had what was to be their biggest hit, staying in the #1 spot in the US for a massive six weeks, earning them a spot touring with The Rolling Stones, the cover of Rolling Stone magazine, and heavy rotation on the new cable network MTV. The song from the “Freeze Frame” LP went to #1 in the US, Australia, and Canada, and was a Top 5 song in the UK, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Switzerland, and South Africa. In 2018, it was ranked at #66 on Billboard's All Time Top Songs. The video directed by Paul Justman, brother of the song's writer Seth, became an MTV favourite, and allegedly the school girls in the clip were students at a Dance Academy above the recording studio, who were asked to be in the video at the last minute… #centerfold, #jgeilsband, #80smusic, #dailyrockhistory, #mtv, #sethjustman, #thisdayinmusic, #onthisday "Pure signal, no noise" Credits Goes to the respective Author ✍️/ Photographer📸 🐇 🕳️

🌊 SURF 'N TURF 🏝️ -THE BORACAY ISLAND LIFE- image THE U.S. GOVERNMENT JUST RELEASED 3.5 MILLION PAGES ABOUT JEFFREY EPSTEIN. WHAT THEY REVEAL IS DAMNING. image On January 30th, the Department of Justice released what it claims is the final batch of files related to Jeffrey Epstein, the convicted s*x offender who died in federal custody in 2019. image 3.5 million pages total, including 2,000 videos and 180,000 images. This came after Congress passed the Epstein Files Transparency Act in November 2025 with a 427-1 vote in the House and unanimous Senate approval, forcing the government to make these files public. IN 2007, THE FBI HAD EVERYTHING THEY NEEDED TO STOP EPSTEIN. https://blossom.primal.net/49c48997d664225c979b34cb2ad81b5488c912038d79d955a6d9baf76e80c85e.jp A draft indictment shows federal prosecutors were preparing to charge not just Epstein, but three of his personal assistants who helped arrange his crimes. Multiple underage girls had told police and the FBI they were paid to give Epstein inappropriate massages, some as young as 14 years old. image The evidence was overwhelming, and agents expected him to be indicted in May 2007. Instead of facing federal charges, Epstein got a deal. Alexander Acosta, who was the U.S. attorney in Miami at the time and later became Trump's Labor Secretary, signed off on an agreement that let Epstein avoid federal prosecution entirely. image Epstein pleaded guilty to just one state charge of soliciting someone under 18 and got 18 months in a county jail with work release privileges, meaning he could leave during the day. He served 13 months. The three assistants who were supposed to be charged alongside him faced nothing. image If that 2007 indictment had gone through, everything that happened afterward could have been prevented. THE FILES SHOW HOW CONNECTED EPSTEIN WAS. Emails show correspondence with powerful people across politics, business, and entertainment, including Steve Bannon, Elon Musk, Bill Clinton, Donald Trump, and Prince Andrew. image In one 2010 email exchange, Epstein appears to try setting up Prince Andrew with a 26-year-old Russian woman, writing "She 26, russian, clevere beautiful, trustworthy." There are photos of Bill Clinton with Epstein, emails discussing potential visits to Epstein's private island, and thousands of references to various public figures. The files show Epstein had an office at Harvard, complete with a key card, years after his 2008 conviction. DESPITE THE DOJ CLAIMING THEY PRIORITIZED VICTIM PROTECTION, THEY FAILED CATASTROPHICALLY. Attorneys representing over 200 survivors say the release was "the single most egregious violation of victim privacy in one day in United States history." Hundreds of victims' names appeared unredacted in the files, including women whose names had never been publicly associated with the case before. Attorney Brad Edwards, who has represented Epstein victims for over 20 years, told ABC News his firm received constant calls from clients whose names were suddenly public. "It's literally thousands of mistakes," he said. The DOJ claims only 0.1% of pages had victim information unredacted, but for those victims, that percentage means nothing because their privacy is already gone. image THE FILES STILL AREN'T COMPLETE. The DOJ says 6 million pages exist, but they're only releasing 3.5 million. They claim the rest contains child abuse material, duplicates, or unrelated documents, but both Democrats and Republicans say the department is violating the law by not releasing everything. Representative Thomas Massie, who led the effort to pass the transparency law, said the release "grossly fails to comply with both the spirit and the letter of the law." Even members of Congress can't access the full, unredacted versions without making special appointments. image THIS ISN'T JUST ABOUT ONE MAN'S CRIMES. This is about a system that had the evidence, had the victims' testimonies, had a draft indictment ready to go in 2007, and chose not to act. When that system failed, it allowed years of additional abuse to happen. The files show that powerful people knew what was happening and chose to look the other way or actively protect Epstein through legal deals that shouldn't have existed. Now, nearly two decades after that 2007 decision and five years after Epstein's death, the government is finally being forced to show its work. But even in doing so, they're failing to protect the people they say they're protecting. The files are public now, though much is still redacted and thousands of pages are completely blacked out. image What's clear is that this wasn't a failure of evidence or a lack of knowledge about what Epstein was doing. This was a failure of will to hold a connected, wealthy man accountable. That failure had consequences that lasted years and affected countless lives. 🌊 SURF 'N TURF 🏝️ -THE BORACAY ISLAND LIFE- image She tried to warn everyone in 2001. The men she named were powerful. What followed destroyed her life. Karen Mulder was one of the most famous models in the world—Versace, Dior, Chanel, a Victoria’s Secret Angel. Then she went on French TV and accused top fashion executives of rape, abuse, and trafficking. She named names. The interview never aired. The footage disappeared. Within hours, her credibility was erased. She was committed to a psychiatric hospital. Her career was over. The men she accused kept working. Years later, those same men were exposed—linked to Epstein, accused by dozens of women, arrested, or dead in prison. Karen Mulder was not protected. She was silenced. She wasn’t crazy. She was early. 🌊 SURF 'N TURF 🏝️ -THE BORACAY ISLAND LIFE- image The original manuscript of Jack Kerouac's classic 1957 novel "On the Road" is about to be sold at auction — where it's expected to fetch as much as $4 million. Typed out over a feverish three-week period in April 1951, this draft was created on one continuous scroll measuring 121 feet long. Because he could type extremely quickly and hated having to pause to load new pages into his typewriter, Kerouac always liked to use long scrolls that wouldn't slow him down. Likewise, this manuscript pauses for neither paragraph breaks nor chapter titles, instead presenting its epic tale of Beat Generation misadventures in one unbroken stream. This draft even uses the characters' original names — taken straight from the real-life writers and artists that inspired the novel's legendary exploits — before the publisher insisted on changing them. 🌊 SURF 'N TURF 🏝️ -THE BORACAY ISLAND LIFE- THE DOOMSDAY DJ: MOVIES FOR THE POST APOCALYPSE image Quadrophenia was the movie that captured a generation filmed in Brighton & London 1979 The cast -Phil Daniels as Jimmy Cooper · Leslie Ash as Steph · Toyah Wilcox Philip Davis as Chalky · Mark Wingett as Dave · Sting as Ace Face · Ray Winstone as Kevin Herriot, image It was the perfect snapshot of a movement, an almost cult-like lifestyle, and the city that saw it all happens. As the years pass by, the scenes of Quadrophenia pass further into folklore; the film is now over 41 years old and the people it explored will be approaching their 80s. image The film was based on an album by The Who of the same name, a synth-heavy rock opera that resonated so much with Britain's youth that it sparked a revival of mod culture The film (like the album) is set in 1965 at the zenith of mod culture in England. image It explores the life of Jimmy Cooper, a young mod in London who yearns to escape the shackles of his dull life as a post room boy living with his parents. Jimmy, played by a young Phil Daniels, finds his only escape through the mod lifestyle of drugs, partying, and - most importantly - scooters.
