1. Evaluate Access to Your Property

Security cameras in key areas can alert you when someone enters your property and give you additional eyes and ears. You can link these cameras with your smartphone for round-the-clock surveillance no matter where you are.
5. Build Relationships With Your Neighbors
You and your neighbors can help deter crime by notifying each other when something or someone doesn't seem right. Ask neighbors to keep an eye on your place when you're away and offer to return the favor for them.
6. Install a Security System
You can find a security system to meet the needs of your homestead and your budget that includes window and door alarms, interior motion sensors, and other features.
7. Invest in Stronger Doors and Better Locks
How hard would it be to kick or push in the doors to your home, garage, and outbuildings? Consider replacing your existing doors with reinforced models that also have sensors to alert you when they open. Install heavy deadbolts to add to the security of stronger doors.
8. Get Some Dogs
Dogs have much better hearing than we do, and they often know the second a vehicle or person on foot enters their property. Although dogs of all sizes can serve as early warning devices, two or more large dogs with deep barks can definitely deter unwelcome visitors.
9. Use Pea Gravel On Pathways
Adding a layer of small gravel on all walkways on your property is another security measure. The crunching sound that occurs when anyone sets foot on small gravel can alert you (and your dogs) to an intruder’s footsteps or a vehicle on the driveway.
10. Use Your Landscaping Wisely
Do you love fresh berries? Consider having your berry bushes serve a dual purpose by planting them strategically. For example, when you plant a row of thorny bushes beneath windows, you can make an intruder think twice about trying to enter there.
11. Create Ditches
Another way to mitigate risk is to dig four- to five-foot ditches as boundaries in critical areas of your property. Be sure to check for any local regulations regarding digging ditches on private acreage.
12. Place Valuables in a Safe
Although you may have some valuables in a safety deposit box at your bank, there are certain things you want close at hand. A home safe can protect your cash, jewelry, documents, and other important items from fire and theft.
13. Forget The Welcome Mat
Instead, post signs that let folks know that you don't want uninvited visitors. Look for the following signs as a way to show you mean business:

14. Maintain Your Property

2. ArmaLite AR-15
The classic, ever-popular AR-15 makes this list due to its durability, ease of use, and availability. The AR-15 is common enough that you could easily find parts for it, and its design makes it one of the easiest to clean and take apart. There are dozens of AR-15 variants out there, and most of these are good options as well.
Make sure you have your AR-15 chambered in 5.56, which allows it to shoot both 5.56 rounds and .223 rounds. This gives you added versatility if you need to forage for ammunition at some point.
3. Mosin-Nagant
Your third rifle option should be something of a larger caliber–think in terms of being able to take down the biggest game in your area. The Russian-made Mosin-Nagant fires a 7.62×54 round, packing a punch that most big game won’t be likely to shrug off.
Another benefit to the Mosin-Nagant is that millions of them were made in the earlier years of the 20th century, making them easy to find and their ammunition fairly common. This firearm can even fill the role of sniper rifle should the need arise.
Handguns

With a slim profile that still has all the stopping power of a .45 round, this handgun is a good choice because of its durability and availability. A tried and true weapon since World War I, this handgun will serve you well as your personal sidearm in any survival situation.
6. Smith and Wesson 586
No good handgun list would be complete without a tried and true revolver. The Smith and Wesson 586 is one of the most reliable revolvers available. Extremely easy to load and to clean, the Smith and Wesson 586 is the perfect survivalist pistol. Its only disadvantage is its ammunition capacity (6 or 7 rounds).
However, the revolver more than makes up for this by being versatile. The Smith and Wesson 586 can fire both .357 and .38 special rounds, making finding ammunition for the weapon easier.
Shotguns

It was built in neo-Gothic style between 1911 and 1912 near Gaspra, on a cliff overlooking the sea (40 meters high) and is the work of the Russian architect Leonid Sherwood.
The castle dominates the cape of Ai-Todor on the Black Sea and stands a short distance from the ruins of the Roman camp of Charax.

The film was based on an album by The Who of the same name, a synth-heavy rock opera that resonated so much with Britain's youth that it sparked a revival of mod culture The film (like the album) is set in 1965 at the zenith of mod culture in England.
It explores the life of Jimmy Cooper, a young mod in London who yearns to escape the shackles of his dull life as a post room boy living with his parents. On this day in 1977, the Steely Dan LP “The Royal Scam” re-entered the UK Albums Chart at #52 (February 5)
Originally released in 1976, Steely Dan’s fifth album did best in New Zealand, where it peaked at #3, also going to #11 in the UK, #14 in the Netherlands, #15 in the US, #24 in Canada, and #30 in Australia.
The lead single and opening track on the album, "Kid Charlemagne", was loosely inspired by the rise and fall of the San Francisco-based LSD chemist Owsley Stanley, and Larry Carlton's guitar solo on the song was ranked #80 in a 2008 list of the 100 greatest guitar solos by Rolling Stone.
“It’s my claim to fame,” Carlton told Guitar World in 1981.
“I did maybe two hours worth of solos that we didn’t keep. Then I played the first half of the intro, which they loved, so they kept that.
I punched in for the second half. So it was done in two parts and the solo that fades out in the end was done in one pass.”
The song “Everything You Did" (3rd track on side 2), features the lyric: "Turn up the Eagles, the neighbors are listening."
Eagles legend Glenn Frey offered his ideas on the lyric, saying: "Apparently, Walter Becker's girlfriend loved the Eagles, and she played them all the time. I think it drove him nuts.
So, the story goes that they were having a fight one day and that was the genesis of the line."
Later in 1976, in a nod back to Steely Dan for the free publicity, and inspired by the group's lyrical style, the Eagles included the line: "They stab it with their steely knives but they just can't kill the beast", in their hit song "Hotel California".
Frey explained: "We just wanted to allude to Steely Dan rather than mentioning them outright, so 'Dan' got changed to 'knives', which is still, you know, a penile metaphor."
The two bands shared a manager (Irving Azoff) and Timothy B. Schmit, who sang backing vocals on The Royal Scam, joined the Eagles in 1977.
There’s the usual collection of excellent musicians contributing, including Steely Dan founder Denny Dias, who guests on guitar, while the raft of backup vocalists includes the likes of Michael McDonald and Venetta Fields.
The album’s cover was meant as a satirical take on the "American Dream".
Artist Larry Zox originally created the painting of the skyscraper/beast hybrids for an unreleased Van Morrison album, and designer Ed Caraeff suggested superimposing a photograph of a sleeping vagrant taken by Charlie Ganse to make the cover for “The Royal Scam”.
In the liner notes for the 1999 remastered reissue of the album, Fagen and Becker jokingly called it "the most hideous album cover of the seventies, bar none (excepting perhaps Can't Buy a Thrill)." 😁

This week in 1980, the Player [1] single “Space Invaders” debuted on the Australian charts at #76 (February 4)
The novelty song based on the wildly successful, game-changing 1978 video game Space Invaders, was written by Australian songwriters Russell Dunlop and Bruce Brown, recording under the band name Player One (commonly stylised as Player [1]).
According to Brown: "We actually went out with a machine before we did the record and recorded all the sound effects of it and had a little fiddle around with it".
The song peaked at #3 in Australia, ending up as the seventh best selling single for 1980, and spending 28 weeks on the charts.
It also went to #20 in New Zealand, and was released internationally.
The single and album were released in the US under the band name Playback, which Brown and Dunlop had used for other projects, to avoid confusion with the US band Player…

Gołąbki are a traditional Polish dish of cabbage leaves stuffed with minced meat and rice, rolled tightly and cooked in a tomato or mushroom-based sauce. The name gołąbki, meaning “little pigeons,” refers to their compact, bundled shape.
Closely tied to the winter season, the dish makes use of cabbage that stores well and benefits from slow cooking. Gołąbki are typically served with mashed potatoes, often finished with sour cream and herbs.
According to culinary lore, gołąbki were served to the troops of King Casimir IV of Poland and the Grand Duke of Lithuania before battle—a story that may be more symbolic than factual, but fitting for a dish designed to be filling, portable, and sustaining.
Today, gołąbki remain a staple not only in Poland but also in Polish-American communities in the United States, where they continue to appear at family gatherings, church events, and holiday tables.

"Pay attention to your enemies, for they are the first to discover your mistakes."
"Antisthenes (born c. 445 BC—died c. 365) was a Greek philosopher, of Athens, who was a disciple of Socrates and is considered the founder of the Cynic school of philosophy, though Diogenes of Sinope often is given that credit.
Antisthenes was born into a wealthy family, and the philosophical ideas that he developed had their roots in the contradictions and injustices that he found embedded in society. He sought to build a foundation of ideas that would serve as a guiding principle toward a happier, more thoughtful way of life.
Antisthenes believed that happiness was dependent on moral virtue and that virtue could be instilled through teaching.
In teaching people how to be virtuous, Antisthenes demarcated two categories of objects: (1) external goods, embracing such elements as personal property, sensual pleasure, and other luxuries; and (2) internal goods, including the truth and knowledge of the soul.
He advocated great restraint on the part of an individual tempted to take pleasure in external goods, and he encouraged his students to accept the burden of physical and mental pain that accompanies the soul’s search for its own inner wealth.
To dramatize his method of teaching, Antisthenes, after the myth of Hercules, would stand on his platform of ideas and beliefs and “bark” at the folly and injustices of his society.
