OPEN SOURCE AI WEAKNESS, A CYPHERPUNK RESPONSE: DARK OPENCODE Given how easy is to use someone else’s code via an AI LLM, and how easy it is to copy the features of open source software for closed source applications a cypherpunk response is needed. I propose Dark OpenCode as a way to share the fruit of volunteer coders without source code for AI LLMs to copy. Dark OpenCode gives away the binaries for free, but the code is visible only for contributors, the real members of the community. The IP remains with the community, but the fruits of the work are shared freely with all. Feedback welcome. I do intend to use this idea for future projects that would feed LLMs unfairly to the makers of the code. -cc @ODELL

What a beautiful summary of the power of capitalism and free enterprise. This model relies on four key pillars: - Personal ambition. - Skill and experience to build solutions. - Freedom to trade. Where no one can stop you from selling or buying goods and services. - Freedom of speech so you can freely share the good news of your product, or your recommendation to anyone. All of these do not work under socialism, or find significant challenges. Modern socialism has unfortunately thrived in many “democracies.” Socialism blocks freedom via regulation, it makes whole industries unprofitable or available only to the few massive corporations or oligarchs that can comply. We see this especially in the EU where regulation wants to control cryptocurrencies and even artificial intelligence to benefit the few. That is also why deregulation and freedom are the real winds of innovation, because wherever freedom reigns talented people will build solutions. This is the reason why Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies have been persecuted and sidelined, they enable freedom to trade, and to act with your wallet anywhere, anytime.
