Supplying sovereign bitcoiners since #700.000 '21.
Been running v2.1.10 for a while now. Looks stable over here. How is the new firmware by @WantClue behaving for everyone? We’ve also added the link to the web flasher directly in our product page. Shipping another ten bitaxes today 🔥 keep on ⛏️
It’s #bitaxe shipping time once again. Look at that beauty.
The bitaxe gamma, a great development but let’s first make the thing work on scale and have a stable release. Also it would be great if we know and battle tested the optimal adapter for the EU. A lot of questions, when, price etc. We will most likely start listing them around end of October. First we need to know what we are up to before jumping on something that is not yet ready for scale. What if the firmware has flaws? We get hundreds returned and we directly bankrupt… please understand that the bitaxe Supra we sell now, with a beautiful case and a Leicke adapter has been battle tested and we are confident in selling them.
Since we launched fiat payments again after 2 years of not being able to accept fiat: we received €11k in orders in one month. After evaluating the cost of the payments (€351,54) we decided to put the cost of the fiat payments including the additional administrative work (couple of hours per month) plus the risk of the chargebacks on the fiat paying customers. People should also understand that these payment providers horde and sell your data. When you look at PayPal you can even automatically generate the shipping labels, but before being able to do that you have to accept the shipping company hoarding all data and being able to use and sell it too… We are not inputting shipping data manually for nothing. When people use fiat rails they should be aware. We’ve now added the following text and extra charge to fiat payments: “Use bitcoin to avoid fiat fees and preserve privacy, bitcoin does not share and use your data” image
Just discovered a major flaw in our international shipping calculator in our website backend. It was no wonder not many were ordering from certain countries for certain products. The shipping fees were simply overcalculated by a multiple mistake in the calculator. We have now adapted our website backend and for example: a signer will now in general ship throughout EU for €19,95 shipping cost. We’re planning to look more in detail and set a shipping price exactly per country. But for now this means that for the @Foundation passport and coldcard q for many countries the shipping costs have halved… looking forward seeing the orders flow. We just implemented euro payments again after being blocked for 2 years out of euro rails. If we knew this would happen we should have fought harder to gain euro rails again. image
Bitcoiners are clearly tinkerers and a curious bunch. So we receive a lot of emails. Can I order a bitaxe without the adapter? I’m going to put a different adapter on it. Can I order it without the case? I want to print my own creation. We try to always make things as simple as possible by assembling and creating the best standard solution. We have been doing this for the @SeedSigner and been doing this for the #Bitaxe. But because for the bitaxe you were spamming us too much we’re now giving you 10 configuration options via our website. Currently the adaptors that have been ordered a while ago are still out of stock, so are the stands that @Printer is currently working on (100s 😉). But we have the Bitaxes in stock already, so now you can order them in plain. Without adapter, without case, straight from our website. You won’t find them cheaper anywhere, the Supras are still the most efficient and amazing miners to learn. Enjoy! Also we’ve put the special edition miners online that are going to heat the amsterdam conference… you can already pre order. PS, that box consists of 100 bitaxe Supra’s. It’s amazing to see what is happening across the globe, happy to be part of this movement.
So this is putting your proof of work device to the test. The seed safe was properly tested in the creator his own kindle. And because he wanted to share his hottest moments with us, he sent the device over to The Netherlands from Sweden. It's amazing to see how much this backup device can endure. We believe that for the really stark cypherpunks it's important for the long term future to not have a single shot readable backup device. And you actually have a plate with constellations people would not recognise easily as a seed. For the most extreme bitcoiners this backup device is the bitcoin (not gold) standard.
Truly humbled and 🤯 away by these orders coming in on a Sunday. Luckily the family helps with packing and assembling the bitaxes. Next to the bitaxes today coldcard q, @Foundation passport, @Blockstream jade, @Andrew M. Bailey book, many seedqr and thick seedwords, sealbags were ordered. We took everything to the post office today to ensure its shipping first thing in the Monday morning. 🙏 image
This is one of the best questions and we get this question often. You should assume every signing device is broken in 20 years and that the exact device is not available anywhere anymore. Your backup should therefore be solid as can be. We have been selling backups for years and for multisig seedhammer is great because both your descriptor and seed are in steel. For single sig you should think much further than just having it in steel. Is the entire seed visible in one shot? Would you be able to take a shot with a camera and be able to translate it directly after capture. In 20 years you should be asking if your backup seed would be seen as a seed directly. And if you are able to store it properly long term in the most extreme circumstances. This backup is for the most extreme bitcoiners. There are two options, a constellation and numbered version. The constellation version is not just for the dreamers, but also for the extremely distrustful. For the travelers we also have @tinyseed_io and for the standard backups (also password Bip85) Seedfan is simply great. But still when you want to be prepared for the long term future, use a SeedSafe. And about collaborative custody, ask yourself: where is my data? Where is the other key? What happens under 6102?
Yesterday the Bitaxe’s from open source mining United finally arrived. So we have been assembling and sending out the back orders on the Bitaxe’s right before post office closing at 20.58. We found out some assembly screws were missing in the shipment. So we are expecting to be able to resume assembly later today. We currently have only 14 left in stock. Depending on this weeks orders we might have to restock again soon. image
People are asking what the difference is between our Bitaxes and others. First of all we mount them on a high quality 3D printed stand where you can pick your color to display. We use the high quality leicke EU adapters so no cheap ripoff. Next to that we buy the miners from OSMU (open source mining United) where a donation ($5,-) is made to make sure the hashrate is increasingly distributed across the globe. Our Supras are currently still on backorder as we’ve sold out. We are expecting the new batch to arrive on Friday. 16 out of 30 pieces have already been sold in back orders. It’s a challenge for us to know when the order intake ramps up. We’ve had past experience with overstocking which has cost us tremendously. Looking forward assembling the next batches for you all.
The new leicke adapters, 3D prints and Bitaxe Supra’s coming from the US (OSMU) are on their way to be mounted. The troops are ready to fulfill the >10 backorders we received. We are hoping to see the different parts arrive asap so we can make the plebs happy hashers. Thank you all for your trust. We’ll keep on building to decentralize the network. image
We are preparing something special as an announcement for the amsterdam bitcoin conference working on a special bitaxe heating project in combination with uniquely numbered axes with two special edition axes that will be auctioned and where the proceeds will flow to OSMU global to spread the hash. A cooperation between @Lightning Checkout for the auction details (single sat to verify bit) and web integrations for payments. @WantClue for the special builds that will be auctioned. More to be released with the details on an official statement later. Let’s bring the bank home. image
It’s really busy in our webshop today and parallel to the busy bitaxe shipments we got some great news. We can accept fiat payments again. We lost our payment rails because we were doing something with bitcoin. We didn’t bother much because our webshop was a side business and only for bitcoiners. Recently we received a lot of requests for fiat payments. We would arrange payment links via our bookkeeping software allowing for quick fiat payments manually when requested. We were already doing this for a few years for larger business customers. At some point last month, we received more requests than orders via bitcoin. So we applied for the fiat rails again. And we received an ok today after being in discussion with mollie for 2 weeks. Really happy we are now back online with fiat rails. Apple Pay one click checkout saves you a lot of time. Time is your scarcest asset. Have been discussing this with lightning hero’s that plugins or apps should at least offer the same experience putting your address in a certain application for webshop checkouts. For privacy enthousiasts, and growth of our parallel economy and technological improvements keep on using bitcoin!
This was such great fun! Recording with @Stef⚡️🌍 @Ramon and @npub1vvqn...v3s8. These guys send a preparation document of so many pages @Bert was already in a headache preparing. Turned out we didn’t get to 80% of the preparation 😂 thanks guys for the proof of work! image
