In light of the recent takedown of the #samouraiwallet project I published a little tool to locally archive git repos of #freedomtech projects in case they get taken down in the future. It can do versioned archives using borgbackup and also saves the releases (compiled binaries) and the release page as html (for hashes, changelogs etc.) This is my first code project out in the public so please don't take my shitty scripting as a personal insult! Happy to hear feedback and improvements!

Weshalb muss ich meinen Seed1 an einem anderen Ort wie Hardware-Wallet1 lagern? Ich habe ja keinen Einfluss darauf, welchen der sechs Verwahrorte der Einbrecher jetzt durch Zufall findet. Wenn er einen Ort mit Seed in Stahl findet, ist es ja kein Problem, wenn am gleichen Ort auch das Hardware Wallet liegt, auf dem dieser Seed gespeichert ist. Oder wie machen das Leute, die einen SeedSigner für MultiSig nutzen? Die haben ja gar keine HWWs zu verstecken, sondern nur Seeds. Beim SingleSig verstehe ich den Grund das Stahl Backup an einem anderen Ort wie die HWW aufzubewahren, für den Fall, dass eine Location abbrennt. Aber diese Redundanz habe ich bei MultiSig ja automatisch gebucht. Kurzer Austausch dazu würde mich sehr freuen. Super Folge ansonsten! ✌️

So in the light of the recent #samouraiwallet takedown: do any of you have a good tool to backup FOSS projects? Basically I would want a complete copy of the git as well as the releases, webpage, READMEs and perhaps issues and PRs. All that packaged so that I can periodically update that screenshot and if the project is taken down I can access that snapshot without any references to the live site.

Halving confessions: I set an alarm for 40mins before the estimated time of block 840.000 to get some sleep as I had to work early in the morning. Miners did a lil sprint and I woke up 6mins late 😑. Missed it but still saw the nice halving block animations on my own mempool instance. This is not the first halving I slept through, Bitcoin will do fine without me and maybe I'll be there next time 😆
