I received the first shipment of my book this week 👀 "A Stoic Resurrection" is a collection of thoughts and reflections drawn straight from the journal of a modern man trying to make sense of his life, purpose, and place in the world. Covering topics from spirituality and love to economics and motivation, it explores the full range of human experience — or at least as much as one can encounter and meditate upon over a two-year period. I will be in Riga attending the Baltic Honeybadger #BH2025 this weekend, so if anyone who's there is interested in acquiring a copy or two, feel free to hit me up. 20 € / book. You can also already order it via Amazon, direct sales via kontext.store will be available soon, as well as a free / Name Your Price .PDF version via @SATOSH.EE #bookstr #philosophy #stoicism #ProofOfWork #opensourceculture

PSA: If you want to post a note with a zap split via #nostrudel and want a % of the zaps to flow to your account, you need to SPECIFY that when setting up the note. For example, if I want to post a note from the @Open Source Culture account with a 50/50 zap split with a creator, such as @micahcmiracle, this is NOT the way to go: image I would also need to add the OSC npub to the zap splits, and set the rate to 50: image On a related note, I will be reposting some of the Open Source Culture "official" notes (the ones that are linked on the product pages on @SATOSH.EE) due to having done the zap splits the wrong way around this whole time. Sorry, folks 🤠

6 years ago, I released a hip hop / emo rap mixtape "Sad Bad Summer." "Threat" is track number 5 from the mixtape and the song marks the first occasion I ever mentioned Bitcoin publicly. "to us the dollars never made a difference bitcoin does but that’s a different system i speak the truth so you know you better listen and if you don't then i don't wanna hear no bitchin" Now also available on @Wavlake: #Bitcoin #tunestr

A writer is someone who cries, laughs and dreams through a pen. They don’t spill blood, they spill ink. They don’t draw swords, they draw words. These artefacts, handed down to us by generations before, no matter how carefully and masterfully articulated, can never convey the true nature of reality, the true being of consciousness. The Tao that can be told is not the eternal Tao. The writer knows this, but gives it their best shot anyway. For the writer is also aware of the Divine within, and of the fact that in the beginning, was the Word.

“You enter the forest at the darkest point, where there is no path. Where there is a way or path, it is someone else's path. You are not on your own path. If you follow someone else's way, you are not going to realize your potential.” ― Joseph Campbell View quoted note →

I can have something as a WIP for over a year and still miss something that I originally intended to include. In this case, it's this banger of a quote: “Rather than love, than money, than fame, give me truth.” ― Henry David Thoreau View quoted note →

"ON THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS" Happiness is not the goal. Happiness is a byproduct. Honesty is the goal. The pursuit of mere happiness, without honesty being at the base of it, quickly leads to self-deception, self-indulgence, self-righteousness, narcissism, authoritarianism and ultimately, self-destruction. Why? Because in the modern era, there is this prevalent notion that “to be happy” means to live without suffering, without sacrifice, without discomfort. Yet, life is all these things. By avoiding them, we are avoiding the most crucial work that our souls, minds and bodies need. This is the aforementioned self-deception in its essence. And if we are incapable of being honest with ourselves, then most definitely we are incapable of being honest with others, and this is where all the troubles begin. Honesty begins with introspection, with letting go of your image and your ego, looking deep inside of yourself, and finding out what really speaks to you, interests you, or bothers you. If you can do that, then you can also start being more honest with others, and more importantly, you can start taking action on those things. (May 28, 2024) There can be no life without love. There can be no love without trust. There can be no trust without truth. Discard the pursuit of happiness. Engage in the pursuit of truth. For in truth, there is meaning and in meaning, there is beauty. (July 13, 2024) "Beauty is truth, truth beauty, that is all ye know on earth, and all ye need to know." ― John Keats “Above all, don't lie to yourself. The man who lies to himself and listens to his own lie comes to a point that he cannot distinguish the truth within him, or around him, and so loses all respect for himself and for others. And having no respect he ceases to love.” ― Fyodor Dostoevsky “The strength of a person's spirit would then be measured by how much 'truth' he could tolerate, or more precisely, to what extent he needs to have it diluted, disguised, sweetened, muted, falsified.” ― Friedrich Nietzsche “Seeking the truth in this empire of lies is the greatest challenge for us in the moral bankruptcy in which we live.” ― Ron Paul

MAN. I absolutely despise taxes, bureaucracy and the financial gibberish that goes along with all of that. Any time I have to fill out a form I have to Google WTF those questions even mean. Any time I have to fill out a form I feel like I want to start a riot. The "You can just do stuff" meme needs to get out of the #Bitcoin & #nostr space We need real freedom, in the real world.

The only reason we don’t just suffer endlessly is that we take care of each other. Parents take care of children; men and women take care of each other; relatives, friends, the free market, the structures of society take care of them all. Or, at the very least, provide some sort of underlying structure and laws, and I don’t mean strictly in a judicial sense. And God, metaphorically speaking, takes care of those structures. And if there is no God, then whatever else is at the top of the meaning hierarchy takes its place and becomes the guiding principle for the whole thing. That usually tends to be the State or the ego or an amalgam of those things which manifests as authoritarianism, tyranny, slavery, and in general - crimes against humanity. In other words, Hell. So there’s nothing trivial about any of this, and there’s certainly nothing trivial about the notion that God is dead. Even if God doesn’t exist, even if God is just a codeword for a set of moral and ethical guidelines, or a personified explanation of the Natural Law, or a description of the Most Good Being - without it, we’re lost. If a blind man cannot appreciate the value of a fine painting, who’s at fault? The blind man or the painter? Neither. In reality, however, there are many blind men who are blind simply because they choose to keep their eyes closed.

Do not forget: suffering is not abnormal. Suffering is the most real thing there is, it is the base state of human existence. There is tension between who you are right now, and who you want to - and could - be. That tension is resistance, and overcoming that resistance means work - and work is suffering. So one shouldn’t be worried about suffering. One should be worried about not suffering - because that’s when you are stagnant, that’s when you don’t have a goal to strive for. And not having a goal - that’s a slow, psychological and spiritual death. Not having a goal is when you are prone to drown in the ocean of life and sink into the meaninglessness below. Physical resistance grows and sustains your muscles; psychological resistance grows and sustains your mind; spiritual resistance grows and sustains your soul.
