So much of the world’s productivity is stuck in Big Fat Tech. What would otherwise be great talent elsewhere is suckered into cyclic promotion-packaging assembly lines. The layoffs, while unfortunate in the near term to those without safety nets, bring a much needed wave of innovation. With some inefficiencies, the dispersion of talent goes into more interesting, less optimized corners of the world. The world benefits when the bubble pops, it’s the catalyst that gives way to another tech renaissance.
> If AI does turn out to make you dumber, why can’t we just keep writing code by hand? You can! You just might not be able to earn a salary doing so, for the same reason that there aren’t many jobs out there for carpenters who refuse to use power tools. If the models are good enough, you will simply get outcompeted by engineers willing to trade their long-term cognitive ability for a short-term lucrative career. - Sean Goedecke
The stoic Gods presented the following challenge for me today: - Draft an email in Gmail, using its ā€œrich textā€ features I am abstaining from expressing the actual emotion this simple task evokes within my very soul.
I’m super excited about mentoring Summer of Bitcoin 2026 students interested on Nostream. They’ve made several improvements to Nostream to demonstrate competency and that’s mostly what’s coming to Nostream V3. Support for multiple NIPs, improvements, better adherence to NIPs spec, etc. Here’s what some of them will get funding to work on during the summer break: Truly excited!
Visited my dad last week. Cherished every second of our encounter. We hadn’t been in touch for a while and I made sure to change that. He now sends me videos and photos of him enjoying some of the cigars I brought him. My father-in-law had just passed so my wife and I had travelled to our home country to pay respects and say goodbye one last time. I didn’t want to miss the opportunity to connect with my own father.
