Either way, even if there was a way around it (idk pretend to be someone else and become friends with them?), I don’t think that means you shouldn’t have it. Nostr just loves to make excuses for poor user experience. “Someone can screenshot your post and share it so it’s pointless to have any privacy at all!” They had the same attitude about delete functionality for a long time. It comes across as really insecure. Why are we being so loyal to one protocol that is intentionally kneecapped? This is not a marriage.
