You’re not hurt by what people do to you. You’re hurt by how you react to it. “You made me angry.” “They disrespected me.” “That ruined my day.” No—they didn’t. You chose to react that way. The Stoics figured this out centuries ago. One of them, Epictetus, said it best: “I laugh at those who think they can damage me. They do not know who I am… they cannot even touch the things which are really mine.” Here’s what he meant: → You can’t control other people. → But you can always control how you respond. → And your thoughts, values, and character are fully in your hands. When you give someone the power to ruin your day, you hand over control of your peace. True strength is emotional discipline. Next time someone tries to provoke you—pause. Ask: Is this worth my energy? Because your energy is yours. Don’t give it away so easily. #Stoicism image
