Yeah the grandmotherly and grandfatherly instincts seem to have skipped my parents. They were always just good straight shooting upper middle class folks, but zero involvement ever with our kids. I don’t get it.

I feel you. It’s been baffling me.
But I’m beginning to think independent grandparents is the real prime cause of the destruction of the family. I think it precedes independent women which precedes absent fathers. And by the time you get to absent fathers the damage to the children is inescapable.
