I thought about the true power in files being the unknown aspect of them to use as leverage. You say okay we caught you, just step away from the nuke and let us rebuild society. We're in this hostage situation in the west where the demonic powers keep threatening us and will for some time.
The other aspect is the epstein files may not have enough actual evidence to convict the high ranking powers. They could have been modified throughout the years or tampered with in some way. At that point you loose your leverage and if it's a bust really screwed yourself over. They will be emboldened to come after you hard and throw down everything they have.
