Iran would be crippling their ally China by closing off Hormuz. That is the last thing Iranians would want right now.

China gets the majority of its crude oil from Russia. Through a pipeline. They share a border. It also gets it from Malaysia, Iraq and Iran, all of which do not need to travel that route. They also get some from the USA. China diversifies its suppliers on purpose.
