Trying #damus on android see an paragraeher.
brutally honest review coming up.
Its kinda shit. there's a ton of shit that is buggy or missing, which is expected in beta but much more is just questionable design decisions. It's very much screaming iOS app in both the simplicity and the ux. I'm just gonna list stuff that could be bad design, or maybe bugs, but honestly for any one of these I would've opened a github issue on amethyst.
1. why is there a sidebar? It's a mobile app. devices are thin. there should never be a side bar that stays open. no one is gonna do anything on the thin right part of the screen when 20% of the horizontal real estate is covered by a side bar. it needs to close when you click something.
2. everything is massive by default. why is 120% the default resolution?
3. why isn't this text box (compose note) a native text box? it has different behavior than expected. literally on this sentence I tried scrolling down and instead of scrolling, it selects text on a simple swipe. I need to drag from the edge of the screen off the text box, but that instantly closes the keyboard. it's genuinely unusable. my keyboard auto capitalizes after periods in every other app but not here. autocorrect works sometimes.
4. noticed this while writing point 3, it doesn't rerender when moving the cursor. I can move my text cursor left or right from my keyboard, but it doesn't reflect it visually. only when I type it starts typing where I moved it.
5. why is there both a bottom and side bar? the bottom bar doesn't seem to do shit. (while typing this I held backspace to delete a few words and it jumped up and deleted stuff in the first paragraph. (while typing this, it jumped up again. I will screen record from now on because y'all need to see what is happening to me)
6. you wanna abstract away a lot of the relay selection from the user but the search doesn't work for shit, so the default search relays ain't doing their job. (Review is over because it's unusable.) I might continue the review later on amethyst.

Currently the app is unusable slop but even if all the bugs get fixed, it's UX is designed so badly that I don't see myself ever using it for anything other than Dave. Maybe release Dave as its own app because I can't stand the damus UX even when it works.
For me, the fact that it doesn't support Amber yet was enough to delete it from my phone right away. These days you just can't enter an nsec directly into a beta version.
It's not a serious attempt at an app. I commend you for writing a review, but don't see what the basis to review is.
It's like reviewing instant noodles. They're not a serious attempt at soup so what are you supposed to review?
