This is an old friendship. We were really good friends 15-20 years ago and it’s been drifting ever since. Honestly it was easy to drop him once he crossed the line. I didn’t lose any sleep over it.

Friend is a word that gets used way too much & incorrectly.
Even if it’s an old relationship.
Reasons for the expressions “money corrupts” and “blinded by jealousy”. This is why “stay humble” is so correct. He should be thankful for your help and to take responsibility for his own actions. The line has definitely been crossed now.
