You don't count the time that it saves in other ways. Yes brain rot doom scrolling is a waste. But access to the library of Alexandria is priceless.

For sure, I’ve gotten about half of my time back by aggressively controlling my phone addiction. I get the benefits of the latter with minimal time destruction of the former.
But without a doubt it is THE most universal and recoverable time debt for society today. I can’t think of anything that compares.
