The fact that deletion doesn't exist is only partially true; in fact all mayor clients support "request deletion" and even if a relay does not honor it, in practice it works very well. On the other hand it is also true that if you post something online, anywhere, it should be considered public forever. This makes you more responsible when posting serious things and, as you said, at the same time celebrates our humanity in small mistakes.
