My theory is that quantum computing will very soon make the cryptography of today’s cryptocurrency instantly obsolete, but people aren’t ready to think about that

Or "it's 15 years away at least". As if you can just plant a stake some arbitrary number of years in the future and proclaim that nothing will happen before then.
