It may be attachment that causes suffering. Then fear of losing said attachment. You don't let go of your fears, you let go of your attachments, and the fear goes away in its own.
Fear can paralyze. Existential fear can lead to the courage of despair. So one could assume that people are not yet afraid enough. As you might know, Germans have the word "Angst". We also have the word "Existenzangst". I no longer hope for reason. Only sheer existential fear will lead to disruption / the necessary change. lfg
