I don't disagree with app relays being used as a starting/jumping off point for those either new to Nostr or dipping their toes into it whilst still electing to use the fediverse as their primary social gateway; it took a good bit of autism wrangling to get @チャノさん to get set up with both an NIP-05 address (which to my knowledge shows up everywhere aside from Ditto) and an independent relay list so that all his stuff gets synchronized on a per-client and relay level (mostly) without issue.
