Using Nostr even just for IDs seems sensible, you get the existing Nostr social graph for free
I did chat to them about possibilities of intergrating with nostr. They use a different cryptographic curve which limits integration.
Yeah saw it was ed25519 β itβs not too late for them to switch to secp256k1 π
I didn't go as far as to suggest they should rebuild it for a third time but with secp256k1. They went from IPFS to SSB to custom implemenration. They have some clever ideas.
I'm hoping that the simplicity of git on nostr via nip34 is whay will make it take off.
Yeah, itβs just a bit of a shame β they were a tad early to notice Nostr and secp is a bit of an esoteric curve

IMHO itβs patching model would likely work better for Nostr buuut itβs not very mature and no way people would just switch away from git π
