With all due respect, nobody doesn’t want freedom. Some people just fear the potential beatings and lynchings more, and sometimes for good reason. Freedom can be scary to contemplate because an attempt to attain it that fails results in punishment. That’s the root of the “Bitcoin is boiling the ocean” critiques, it’s an attempt to scare people away from trying, to convince them that if they try they may end up worse. If they allow anyone to try we may all end up worse. And people believe that because they can’t even imagine being free of debts and bills and creditors. Everyone wants freedom. Some people just don’t believe it is even possible.

Yeah, I'm not so sure about that. I think there are people who truly do not want the responsibility that comes with any real sort of freedom & who would be unhappy if they got it. There are people who need someone else to blame for their situation so that they can avoid looking at themselves. But what meaningful difference is there between people who don't want freedom & those who are afraid of it?
