My pleasure sharing. For me these challenges are a good thing because I only do public art now. It has been ten years of complete devotion, so I submit numerous proposals every year and also complete several commissions annually. I never take the process personally. Often it comes down to what is needed at that moment, and having served on juries myself I know how tough it is to choose just one artist for a space. Yes, I do carry ideas forward. After this one proposal, I reused part of these images for a commission in Ogden, Utah, which drew on art deco motifs and was adapted for bus stops. Later, some of those ideas evolved again into a recent commission at the University of Washington. I love these kinds of challenges. Limitations make me thrive because they force me to listen more deeply to the needs of the people and the site, and then do what feels right. Public art is where my heart is.
