My advice for new #Nostr users! Once you’ve gotten your Lightning Address working and you’ve collected a nice stack of sats from your first #zapathon, you might be tempted to #zap them all back to others, or just hold onto them, but one way you can really level up your experience is to spend your first round of sats on joining some paid relays. You’ll see better content, block spam on the global feed, and best of all, you’ll be supporting the relay operators who keep the network running and decentralized. πŸ’œβš‘οΈπŸ€™ See a list of paid relays here: https://relay.exchange

I can attest that paid relays have really cleaned up my global feed and spam #zap requests.
Spot on. Earn your first sats by sharing fun/interesting notes (and other stuff) and then use those sats to reduce the spam you see by singing up for paid relays. The next step is buying real beer 🍻 with the sats you earn here. #NostrProTip #Nostr #[0]
Once you have your paid relays, you can go into the UniverseπŸ›Έ feed on Damus (other clients may have different ways of doing this) and toggle off/on only the relays you want to read from. This is how you cut off nearly all of the spam.
@npub1rwce...jm2m an info thread for you about Nostr relays. In my own experience you'll be right with 5 paid relays and not more than 20 free ones. I have no idea however what's the ideal ratio and I haven't tested if less is more or if viel hilft viel.
