I remember my MIL saying I favored Katherine (whom I had been brought up to loathe, by my John Bircher father, as a trouser-wearing, bleeding-heart liberal, Hollywood fruit and nut), and I was horrified. She said KH’s mouth turns down at the corners, like mine. The experience taught me something; that my MIL was a tad manipulative, and that KH was truly beautiful, to be admired, instead of canceled, not so much for her bone structure, but for her spirit of independence and intelligence (which was what my father feared in her IMHO). It is the duality of life that balances out our light and dark sides, and lends to the rich fabric of life. I certainly cannot see Roseanne Barr in you, but as far as her independent spirit, I can totally buy that. Could we stand chocolate cake with ganache icing every meal? I think not…
