It seems like a poor rip-off of Briar, which has been successfully used by reporters during the Hong Kong riots, and other similar events.

Exactly what I was thinking when I first heard of bitchat. Are there significant technical differences between the two? I don't know enough to judge.
I have no reason to try Bitchat. I hear people saying that it's not actually mesh. It doesn't have the same communication abilities (Briar has forums, etc, in the app), and doesn't use wifi.
With all due respect to jack's work but bitchat is not useful if you're not living in downtown Shanghai.
Nah: spoken with various people worldwide who have shared their use cases β¦. so I think you just need to test it more friend. With respect β
IMO itβs preparation for many uses but understand everyone chooses. Gen

Not significant. Same ideas.
Yeah. Its neat if you're at an event and a number of people are using it... But use case is limited. π€·ββοΈ Plus Jack built in internet/nostr REAL quick... Because mesh style Bluetooth use case is so niche.
Just feels like a reiteration of things that already exist. Meh.
