As someone who spent way too much time trusting these people, I can confirm this based on experience. All the talk of inclusion and diversity is a manipulative play for influence and control. They will prey on your good faith.
Leftist nerds almost always end up dominating the cultural tone of nerd spaces. Then they take leadership. Then they purge non-leftists. This all starts because normal nerds are quick to assume good faith.
No battleground is more battleground is more important to leftist nerds than open source projects, because the only control over open source is at the social layer -- the granting of repo access and the ability to lie in wait for further instruction.
