I listed death cult apps because that’s what most people use, and I knew anyone who didn’t use said apps would be sure to tell me.
Also, I put @Fountain in a different category. They’ve had “zaps” (“boosts”) for years. They also integrated Nostr a while ago. They also have video in addition to audio.
For bitcoiners who only use death cult apps, I always try to push them toward fountain.

Good to hear. There’s also a bunch of other apps that are both open source and support podcasting 2.0 features (therefor btc)
Bitcoin is part of a bigger picture for me, we need more free and open systems and way less digital vampires. That involves a massive culture shift away from current funding models of the Internet. I really like the v4v concept and I hope more people shift their thinking over time.
Loads of great FOSS podcast projects listed at
Fountain doing great work for sure and they’ve been very supportive of grass roots level music events, that’s extremely cool! I’m also a fan of Podverse, again it supports direct p2p payments using magic internet money. Win.
We’re all fans of open source money, we need to open source a lot more imo. This is very hard for creatives (music maker not using mainstream platforms myself) but I sleep better knowing I’m trying to be the change I want to see.
My own music/show is self hosted on Castopod, again FOSS and RSS and BTC compatible.
For bitcoiners who only use death cult apps I’d just ask what world do you want to see? One where kids grow up thinking making weird surprised face to satisfy a black box algorithm is normal or something else? Hmm…

The Podcast Index is here to preserve, protect and extend the open, independent podcasting ecosystem.
Also worth noting Fountain is NOT open source, but there are plenty of new podcastng apps that are like Podverse and Curiocaster
